This is very nice and colorful, but I think that the sides of the glass are ever so slightly slanted. Just thought you would like to know.

First I'd like to say this picture really caught my eye thanks to its originality; althought it is quite simple (or maybe thanks to it) it really stands out among all the character portraits, fanart scenes etc. Another reason why it stands out is its vibrant colours and great contrast with the white background. The glinting glass also really helps to make it stand out. The red and green complementary colours work well and nicely tie it together. There are nice details like the dots on the lime and orange peel.

One thing I would criticize is the shape of the glass. I'm not sure how the original glass looked like, perhaps it had somehow complicated shape, but in the painting it just looks somehow off. What exactly I mean by it? If you look at the lower part of the glass, there are four faces, or flat areas visible. Supposing they are in reality all the same size, then in perspective drawing the two in the front (that is in the middle) should appear wider than those on the sides. The same goes for the length of the edges of the bottom (is it understandable?), so that the shape of the bottom (and by extension the whole glass) could appear to be regular. But I know this is often quite difficult to achieve.

Anyway, for such a quick painting (20 minutes? I admire it! I am never ably to make anything that quick. 2 hours is a speedpainting for me) it is very well done and nice study of a simple object.

Hi there friend! I’m coming in from www.deviantart.com/projectcomm… to give some hopefully useful comments!!

let me start with the positives! First, I looooove the colors. I think they look absolutely lovely. You used just the right color choices to make every color stand out yet keep the composition together. Second, I think you make a really good choice in how the piece is actually composed. The white in the background is the perfect accompaniment to the vibrant colors and to the stark white in the detail.

Some places to improve. First, I think the rendering could use some work. It was probably my really difficult to render since an A5 canvas is very tiny. 20 mins is also very fast! I think that instead of making a lot of small details in a short period of time, you should focus more on blocking and letting contrast be the source of detail. Second, the liquid is transparent, so I should be able to see the bottom of the glass. Finally, I find that the glass feels flat while the napkin clearly exists in a 3D space, so a little work on perspective would help!

I think this is a very lovely piece, particularly with the color, and only some few changes would help it to improve. Great job, and I hope this helped!

Since I use watercolour as well I was immediately drawn to this colourful piece. I like the idea of creating something in the moment though I have never tried it myself. You already know that there were some difficulties with angles but for 20 mins and while out for a drink, I think this is a great effort! I really love those orange and lime slices floating in the drink, you did well with the highlights in them, so it's my favourite part of the entire thing! Second thing I noticed straight away was the actual liquid together with the sharp white highlights creates a nice feeling of depth. The only 'negative' things that kind of distracted from the tasty illusion where the straws being a bit off and the scratchy white highlight you used to indicate the cut of the glas right in the front. Overall I still just want to take a sip though so mission accomplished, I need a cool drink now

Unless the right black straw is a bendy straw and its bent to the right under the water. It shouldn't be facing strait up and down to the right where it is for its not structurally correct.
Other than that, its a lovely piece the lemon and limes look very nice getting colored by the tea its sitting in, and the water is nice
