Hello. I found your piece through ProjectComment www.deviantart.com/projectcomm⦠I haven't done one of these before, but I hope it is what you are looking for in a constructive comment.
First off, this is a beautiful piece and I have added it to my favorites. The thing that strikes me most about it is the extreme vibrancy of the colors. I work with watercolors some and it can be hard to not wash out your colors. The vibrancy of the colors contrasts directly with the more sad theme of crying. This kind of image is not an uncommon idea, but I like that you flipped it and made it your own. The color comes not only from under the eye or from the tear ducts, but also from the iris itself which is really interesting and almost a little unnerving. I think the color running from the eyeball itself over the bottom eyelid is what makes this piece different from similar pieces. The shine on the eye is really well done in the center of the eye. The reflection hints at what she is looking at, but is impossible to determine. This attempts to add a story element as well as a more lifelike quality. As for a potential improvement the white of the eye looks a little dull and pushed back behind the iris due to being offset by the color. Maybe adding more of those shine elements to convey that the eye is wet with tears could help. While conceptually it isn't necessarily the most unique idea I like the elements of this that made it your own. Overall this is a beautiful work. Great job.
