Description
A slightly older photo of my male spider morph ball python, Eryx. I am absolutely in love with his back patterns - can you see the odd human figure shape that I do?Eryx might be a daddy in the next two months or so... he bred with a few of my females this winter and some of them look like they're about ready to drop eggs. I'm so excited!
I have one male pastel ball python from last season for sale, and will have (hopefully!) a bunch of babies this summer - if you're considering adding a ball python to the family and want to know more, just drop me a line!

Beautiful !! Β 'Spider Python' Β
I didn't realize there were so many variations of the Python species.
How old is he? Β What's a normal lifespan?
How long is his expected length?
No - don't worry, I'm not a collector..have only had a few 'rescue' lizards & 2 turtles
Β Β I've always admired snakes & especially the Python's, but know very little about them. Β If you have a good reference sight for info I'd appreciate it.
Thank you

Spider is just a color morph of the ball python - so he's just a basic ball python, just a fancy 'color'.

It's the pattern, I assume the thin lines and 'webbing' invoked the idea of a spider to the original breeder.

Spiders are one of my favorite ball python morphs, and I just adore this photo! I do see the odd pattern you're talking about, as well.
I have my fingers crossed for one day owning a ball python as well. I've done my research, and already own a cornsnake and a sand boa. I just love owning snakes!

I have a male spider, a female normal (who will be bred this year to the spider) and a year old Mojave female.
We are crazy about our three babys!

Cuuute! Spiders are one of my favorite Ball Python morphs C:
Does he or any of his assumed babies have problems with wobbly-headedness?

Foxfeather248 In reply to Trustthapo [2010-02-25 13:52:03 +0000 UTC]
No, he's not been wobbly at all. I've heard that rumor around spiders a lot but I haven't known anyone personally that's had that issue with theirs.

Oh my goodness what a beautiful python. I have a female ball python of my own, just a regular. Only she is fully blind, thanks to a pet store incident.

Thank you!
I think the 'normal', wild type ball pythons are some of the most beautiful ones! Good on you for giving her a great home.

Yeah she is my baby girl, I've had her for about 7 years. Funny thing is her and my bearded dragon get along great. It's odd really, the two of them can be out and near each other and all she does and lay her head on his back. It's cute ^^

I have a question for you. Are Spider Pythons good as pets?
π: 0 β©: 2
wanderingwords07 In reply to DreadfulJAM [2010-09-30 16:32:40 +0000 UTC]
They are the same as any ball python, ist just a color variant of a ball python

Foxfeather248 In reply to DreadfulJAM [2008-09-30 14:24:12 +0000 UTC]
Spider is just a color/pattern morph of the ball python - so they make as good pets as 'normal' ball pythons. They are generally very calm snakes and very well suited to being captive pets!

I see thanks for the info, cause I was looking into getting one, but I have to wait til I eventually move out from my parents. I was looking at a Lucistic blue-eyed ball python but they are crazy expensive right now.

where did you get him, he's gorgeous!! <3
I was looking into getting another ball python, and a wanted a morph.... or a piebald..

Foxfeather248 In reply to EricLeHippie [2008-09-30 14:25:46 +0000 UTC]
Originally I got him from NERD - a large reptile breeder. I do breed ball pythons myself, I don't have any piebalds left for sale but I have some mojaves, pastels and a few possible hets . If you're interested in getting into pieds but don't want to spend the money on a visual morph the hets are a great way to go! I'll be updating with a few more available snakes this week: [link]

He is beautiful! I have two ball pythons (both normals) but they are such wonderful creatures. Someday I'd like to get a few that are more unique colors. Yours are gorgeous. I hope everything goes well with your babies.

Oh wow - I used to be into ball pythons. I had a female albino, a male pastel, 4 regular females and 1 male het for albino (plus 1 baby regular male). All full grown and pretty huge. Spiders are awesome. My friend still has those snakes.

Congratulations on your clutch! That's fantastic.
Snakes are addictive! But luckily easy to keep in numbers - caring for a bunch isn't that much more difficult than caring for a few if you're doing the rounds anyways.
