Adler's Prelude - Andria's LessonsHere is the comic to introduce the character Andria to the story. This is more about the small, but important lessons Ashien learned from Andria.
The hardest part about making this panel was making the punch line. I needed something silly that was in Ash's character, but not just stupid and dangerous.
I'll leave it up to the reader to guess what kind of story she's telling there.
I KNOW she's not wearing much of anything in this comic, but this is pretty normal for her. She is a nudist after all.
It's best to understand that before Ash knew she was going to be a mother her favorite hobbies were, fighting, drinking, sex, and long baths. No matter how much she enjoys these things, what matters more to her is Adler. Just to show her priorities are straight.
She's not a bad mother. Just inexperienced and ill informed.
The attentive reader might catch onto a small bit of information about Adler in the second panel. Adler was actually born a month premature, but oddly enough he wasn't. It's a small tid-bit into the mysteries of the greater story of Adler.

Lovely job with the art as always. I like the message in this strip: Mothers (and fathers) can read all the parenting books they like, but being a parent is often learned through experience and helpful hints.
I noticed a minor spelling error (sorry I didn't spot it in the B&W version): sparring needs another 'r'.

Not to be too blunt about the point she's telling him about her past and adventures. That just also happens to involve sex and plenty of it. She doesn't see any harm in telling him, but tends to get a little carried away.

Naturally, this will be text heavy. It's a comic page that introduces a new character. I know The dialog doesn't flow, but this is Ashien's speech. She's bright and smart in certain areas, but not incredibly well educated. I wanted to show that in her pattern of speech.
I was rather fond of the anatomy in this one. Especially in that last panel.

Well, I've already drawn him growing up. So far people only know his personality as a baby. He does become a rather witty guy. bit of a smart ass.

I like doing something different with the mother character. Seems like in most manga the mother is either not involved much at all, a completely innocent person, or neglectful.
Ashien is loving, but just a lil' crazy.

I wouldn't say decent. She's a great mother. There are a lot of things she enjoy doing, but Adler is more important to her.
It's different when a person knows they are doing bad and still do it.
