Description Its all explained in the tutorial. At first it was a beginner's tutorial, but pros can also benefit from it.

Here are some of my HDR Pics done with this procedure:
HDR Clouds: [link]
HDR Mountain: [link]
HDR Fire: [link]
Rainy Day: [link]
HDR Cerromar: [link]
Pool HDR 1: [link]
Pool HDR 2: [link]
Lone Tree: [link]
staring at the range: [link]
Nature at its highest: [link]

(from one of the comments:
You should add increasing the contrast and adjusting the saturation to part of the HDR process, because images look kind of bland strait from the conversion to 8-bit. And, adjusting the curves can help bring out highlights and shadows.)

i dont think one of ur pictures was blurry, trees seldomly stand absolutely still so even if you didnt notice it, every picture the friggin trees had other positions. hence the blurred image

yeah I figured that, but the second one (compared to the others) is way blurrier.

"QTPFSGUI" is a great alternative to PhotoShop, it offers tone maps and it's free. Check my gallery for some samples using the Fattal algorithm.

This is already a pretty old tutorial, you got some good stuff. Hell now a days I can take decent HDR on my phone technology can get pretty ridiculous sometimes lol.

Nice tutorial you got there. I've been wondering how to make a HDR image from a moving object, i'm a bit confused since we need to take 3 pictures with different exposure, but the objects will keep on moving. Does RAW files have something to do with this?

I have several examples using HDRI on moving objects. It gives a nice feeling of momentum to the images.

Kols In reply to ujangapri [2010-04-01 13:10:47 +0000 UTC]

you can't make HDR of moving objects, if your main focus is that moving object. The idea is to take a lot of photos of the exact SAME thing, only with different settings. So, unless you move and are able to change the settings at the speed of light, I don't think you can do it, unfortunately
And RAW is only a file-format which is uncompressed - a JPEG-file is what your camera compresses the image into. With RAW, the camera stores all it's settings into that image-file, so that you can edit it more accurately.

Thanks, remember I made this a while ago, when I was actually just starting. As a result, I use Photomatix now for most of my HDR, but Ill make sure to put your advice on my notes thanks!

mariomguy In reply to gameplayer529 [2009-01-30 20:00:34 +0000 UTC]

My first HDR would not have turned out so good unless I used your tutorial I thought all the pictures had to be manually put into layers and blending options had to be manually adjusted. Glad it's automated!

Photoshop actually isn't that bad with HDR. It just takes a bit of editing afterwards to get the picture to look just right. The contrast and curves adjustments make it "look" like an HDR picture. Without them, shadows and highlights are compressed and the image looks soft and fuzzy.
