Hmm. Wonderful image. Stunning and well done... but a question: I love the nautiloid look... but isn't Cthulhu described as an anthromorphic, winged being? Don't get me wrong, I love seeing someone break canon, I'm just curious where you inspiration came from. What gave you the idea for a nautiloid Kutlu?

Well, here's my thinking:
Cthulhu's "wings" are probably not wings, but a more complicated organ used for gods-know-what. Cthulhu's too big to fly anyway, unless his terrestrial form is from a smaller world with much, much lower gravity. I doubt this is true, as it would affect other aspects of his anatomy.
Thus, I think that Cthulhu's large, unexplainable organs were described as "wings" by inarguably insane viewers, and the mumblings of these madmen were represented as wings by the idolmakers.
What do I believe the organs are for? I think they are extra-dimensional umbilicals, which trail off behind Cthulhu into higher dimensions and from which he draws corrupt sustainence. Might the terrestrial form of Cthulhu only be the tip of a much greater "iceberg" ?
Similarly, the icons describing Cthulhu's form as anthropomorphic are themselves a product of artistic liscence. If you check out the description of my painting "The Thing", I've copied the best first-hand description of Cthulhu.

Perhaps the most surprising thing about Cthulhu is the lack of fan club on DA... Quite strange when you look at the incredible quantity of useless fanclubs and stuff, but nothing for Cthulhu.
I've made several reasearches on DA about this great old one, and i can say that yours is one of the best, the design is great and colours are very good for a sea master

much better. i couldn't get the far eye to work quite right no matter how i tried, but it definitely looks more refined now.

The blank eyes (sans pupils) lended this a certain eerie quality, but the pupils work as well. One thing, that pupil on the left looks lower than the one in the foreground. I could just be miscalculating where it should be though.

however, I was hoping you'd put some color and those nifty octopupils in his eyes. they look a little vacant.

ya know, I moved all manner of pupils around those eyes, and they just never worked. Either he'd look cartoonish, or drugged, or just plain silly. I don't know; if you wanna fiddle with it and find a good compromise, it wouldn't bug me in the least to be proven wrong.

Very well done... I like the green coloring. It's very nice how the picture gets darker towards the bottom.
