Description WTFudge. Is there no preview image upload on DA submission anymore? DX Anyone know? Thanks.

THIS IS NOT A TUTORIAL!!!!!!! I did not take enough photos to make one haha. Which is why I'll probably never make a coloring tutorial (i get too into the process i forget to screencap them). Also I am no expert with this media. I rarely touch them. So yea, I just thought the process from scratch to finish was neat and liked to share.

Enjoy~!

I don't get how it went from plain watercolor/marker to EPIC AWESOME picture o__O" How did you do that? I mean, I read it, but I don't understand it... can I have a further detail explanation?!

Haha. I like watercolor too :3 They're just more harder to control...or is it copic that's harder...traditional are hard T_T

Rando-chan In reply to gem2niki [2008-02-13 06:32:02 +0000 UTC]

copic are harder.. coz they're drying quicker than watercolor XD
and the quality of the paper should need more attention too
besides... copic are more expensive here, in my country hahaha

Mann, I suck at traditional work. =___= Like, a lot. How long did it take you to get so good at painting? DDx And how much did you have to practice?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gem2niki In reply to deathbymurder [2007-05-08 22:38:45 +0000 UTC]

this probably took me 6 hours maximum...maybe less because i work on and off ; but i don't practice with copic marker or watercolor at all....i just work directly, only like a few times a year or something with this media haha.

Not sure if anyone has told you or not (don't fell like reading everyone else's messages) but they don't use the preview button anymore. From what I heard (read: read) people were abusing them so once they updated the system, they got rid of the preview option.

I think my favorite way to mix media is with tempura and color pencil. Tempura words great as a base color(s). But the best media of all time is oil pastel. Which I haven't done in awhile now that I think of it...

But yes, this is a wonderful picture. Its really soft looking. I probably should go check out the actual picture, shouldn't I? *goes off*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gem2niki In reply to cancan-group [2007-05-08 01:21:37 +0000 UTC]

aww that sucks XD;; no more preview abuse T3T

tempura? you mean tempera and not that japanese vegetables batter in oil thing, right? XD;; *now i'm craving for some tempura..*
sounds interesting~ i just hate how messy traditional medias get so i don't want to touch them haha XD;;

cancan-group In reply to gem2niki [2007-05-08 15:17:25 +0000 UTC]

XD

I mean the paint. I kant speel rite at al. Its a gifft adn crse. XD

The thing that annoys me is the clean up. Which is why I haven't done any traditional in awhile. But I plan to do something this evening. I miss it.

it's surely stupid but what is " gesso " exactly ?? what sort of paint ??
sorry i don't know if i can find it in France -_-;
vrey sorry if you juge my question very ...silly lol

gem2niki In reply to Istriel [2007-05-07 23:01:25 +0000 UTC]

I have no clue how to describe it. But I just used that because it was the only white thing I had readily available ; Stuff like white ink or white out would suffice. But it's good to mix gesso with ink to create various gray values for painting opaque b/w +gray art ;

Its nice drawing, and thecoloring job is pretty good
i see the CG work you do is rubbing off in other medias

Here comes the annoying question
but I am curious to know.
The copic multiliner sepia you used, was it used
to be a second draft of the lines you had or to be
the final inking?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gem2niki In reply to jaggedice200 [2007-05-07 23:02:52 +0000 UTC]

Hmm it's my final inking ; I added some black for the lines that disappear in the color tho. I think the sepia is nice for skin tone and light colors ; I just used the color because I wanted to use it anyways XD

ippus [2007-05-07 11:53:55 +0000 UTC]

call me weird XD I actually liked the first colour application more than the full XD THen again it might jsut be the miniature sized screen shot playign tricks on me XDDDDDD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gem2niki In reply to ippus [2007-05-07 23:16:31 +0000 UTC]

haha. i would have liked to kept it at that..but then it would be flat. i think it would look nice with art with more design elements ;
