Description
For those who wants to know about my color pencil progress.
Though the piece is made in 2004, I basically use the same process over and over and over again.
It's nothing new... If people ask me about color pencil process again, I will just give you this tutorial. ^^bb
Pencils I used: Prismacolor pencils. [link]

Now, I wonder... how do you determine the intensity of colour and the depth of shading BEFORE you so much as toned the background?

Really clear and simple tutorial It's amazing how it all comes together.
Guh, I need to put some more arm muscle when I'm using coloring pencils. I often don't have the patience to blend till the white paper disappears XD

this was intresting to read. You treat color the oposite then I do. Shadows I always do first. Your mathoid looks diffacult to me ^.^;, but I guess because I am so use to and conterable with what I have been doing for years. I might have to poke at the idea though.

I only do it this way because its color pencil, if shadow goes first then the colors have to be chosen differently. I used that method before, but usually I go light first because pencils are for layering like that.

I see. Even with colored pencils I do it differently. I might have to try it anyhow. Thanks,ใthis has been helpful.

as a second thought, what kind of pencil do you use?

mayshing In reply to BlackHawkRising [2007-08-07 13:45:09 +0000 UTC]
Prismacolor pencils. They have a lot of wax in it that makes it good for blending, but the wax does surface in a few years time and create a white film, that can be annoying for storage wise.

Such remarkable blending.
You also have such a competent grasp on fold lines and where to shade. I dont think I would be confident enough to ever color in my penciled work with crayons for fear of making an irreversable mistake.
So what im trying to say is, Im impressed that you do take those risks with your original line art.

color pencil is erasable to a certain stage... it's limited though. Thats why I layer the colors more lightly until I am sure what I want.
