Hayashi was pouring over the data that Arthur's bionic suit had recorded. He was able to determine that the creature was having a major influence on Maria. He was also able to determine that Maria could no longer survive with out it.

"What do we do now," Arthur demanded, "Kill her?"

"We're going to have to face facts," Hayashi had a tone of reluctance, "The Maria we know may not be in there any more."

Hayashi continued that Arthur's current weapons weren't enough to ensure her death, the parasite was too robust and resilient. If a portion of it was destroyed, it would steadily regenerate and continue it's work, "There's only one way to be certain. I've programed a unit of your suit's nano-probes to deliver a thermal blast to each of the parasite's cells simultaneously. This will ensure the organism's death."

"And Maria's..." Arthur was becoming short-tempered and angry.

Hayashi interjected, "Listen, Arthur, there's more at stake here than the life of just one person. That parasite is receiving and sending some sort of signal into deep space. Where, I can't tell. This could be the prelude to an all-out invasion."

Arthur, being connected directly with the nano-probes in his suit and blood stream, began to program his own set of nano-probes to be injected into Maria. Hayashi was able to observe Arthur's programming of the second batch, "I don't think that plan's going to work..."

"I admit that killing her may be our *final* option, but I refuse to believe it's our *only* option!"
