Creators notes: Yes, this is a retread of my previous upload. I did this because I didn't feel the last one was up to snuff when it came to this story.

Accompanying Fiction:
After pouring over the data that was recorded with Arthur's bionic suit, Hayashi was able to determine what had happened to Maria. She was now the physical slave of the parasite. What was worse, her mental identity was slowly being devoured by the creature as well. Dr. Hayashi recommended that Maria's life be terminated by injecting a set of modified nano-probes from Arthur's body into Maria's. The plan was to deliver the automatic heat defense to every cell of the creature simultaneously, resulting in a certain death for the creature.

Arthur wasn't happy that this would be at the expense of Maria's life. He began crafting his own set of nano-probes. His set would attempt to lobotomize the creature at the cellular level, instead of outright killing it. Hayashi was quick to point out that Arthur was taking a shot in the dark, and that any procedure targeting the creature's neurons could still end up killing it and Maria at the same time.

"Is it just me Arthur, or do you have feelings for Maria?" Hayashi asked.

Arthur was taken off guard by the question, "What? No, I mean... She's way older than me. She's twenty-five, I'm not quite twenty..."

The aged Hayashi gave a bit of a chuckle at Arthur's age rationalization, "It's okay, son. You're trying to save her life, that's what's important here. That is a virtue of yours that I hope you never let go: your capacity for compassion."
