You know you're absolutely right, maybe I should be more in control of the scene instead of just letting it unfold before me from now on. Subjects in the photos help a lot

I like this a lot. Really nice colors, and the way you composed it leads your eye all around the image.

So many angles and so many different ways to see it all. It's like the viewer is searching for a way out of all this organization and well straight lines and all.
Those tall buildings remind me of how small I really am o.o

This is an excellent shot Keith.
I think its strength is in the way those tall buildings lead the eye toward the sky. The image has great perspective too. The combination of interlocking lines and angles makes this a highly dynamic piece of photography.
I think you chose the perfect viewpoint to capture this image. Everything looks just right. The quality of the photo is impressive too. Although the buildings create those angular shapes, they also have a soft feel. Perhaps this has something to do with the warm colour, and smooth texture of the buildings.
It really is a superb picture. A classic example of dynamic photography at its best.
I noticed you took this with a NIKON D50. The reason I mention it, is because I recently bought myself the NIKON D40, and am delighted with it. Can't wait to start using it.
Take care,
Yan

Yeah I see what you mean man, thanks for the in depth comment, I appreciate it. Yeah the d40 matches the quality quite well with the d50, the only big difference is the d40 is aimed more towards a less professional level than the d50; for instance, the d50 was made for someone who might want to be shooting professional one day but doesn't want to buy something very expensive. The d40 is aimed a little more towards an audience who want superb slr quality photos without much of the hassle in reading over a manual for hours just to get things right, but you can learn a lot from it if you are really motivated to learn.

No problem. It is a fantastic shot.
You're right about my camera. I bought the D40 specifically because it is aimed at the beginner. Nevertheless, it does have many manual functions, which will allow me to learn about the more advanced aspects of photography.
It's a great camera. Although I had looked at other DSLRs, like the CANON D400, and the PENTAX K100D - it was the NIKON that "felt" better for me. The build quality is excellent, as is the image quality. The thing that really swung it though, was how it felt in my hands, and just how well the controls were laid out.
I have no intention of buying extra lenses, or upgrading to another camera, so this Nikon will do me fine. Besides, I still have my other cameras. The FUJI S5500 has a superb 10 x Optical zoom. My small OLYMPUS C-310Z is ideal for "macro" shots.
It's almost as if I already have 2 extra lenses anyway.
Getting back to this photo. This is exactly the kind of photography I want to get into. Although there aren't many skyscrapers in Glasgow, there are a lot of really old buildings to photograph.

Fjordian In reply to Genesis-Orbit [2007-09-13 06:03:54 +0000 UTC]
Yes. It came with the AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II lens.

building's color edited or no?
the lines just don't work for me, my eye is either drawn to the big black thing in the bottom right or the light just above the wall.

Yeah I would prefer the big wall at the bottom to be gone, but I guess I just like the geometric shapes it made.

You'd never get buildings so tall in Glasgow. Except maybe the high-rise flats that everyone universally abhors D;
Very cool shot, I particularly like it because angles fascinate me, as does architecture

Indeed, buildings can do that from time to time. I've seen it a lot in `bosniak 's work
