Now we begin diving into the interesting part, the part that is primarily responsible for differences in art styles: the eyes. I'll probably take another page or two to mention all my tips on how to draw them right, but I don't think anyone will complain.
Blossom has to pull her bow down so it doesn't interfere with the text above.
This page was done in the least amount of time of all the pages so far—7 hours over two days.

Blossom vs the fourth wall. Wait, this tutorial doesn't have one.

I may not be big on all the simplisticness the show has, but if there's one thing I can give it credit for, it's this: those eyes can be such a pain to get just right.

The best way is to use the 3-click curve tool. You can draw a basic ellipse (eye) in two parts fairly easily this way. Picture a rectangle in your head, then use the curve tool to draw a line along one of the sides of this rectangle; this is your first click. The second click of the curve tool should be in one of the other corners of the rectangle, and the third click in the remaining corner. It'll take some getting used to, but you should eventually be able to draw these ellipses at an angle by visualizing a rectangle that's tilted at that angle.
Hope that helps.

does that also apply with paint.net?

I've never used paint.net before, but it looks like it has a spline (curve-drawing) tool that would be easier to use than the curve tool in MS Paint.

I don't think I could get used to it, but I know many people say they like it.

Yeah, I'm meticulous. Plus I didn't actually "draw" anything—it was all done with the mouse.

Blossom is so cute! I usually don't have problems with the eyes and I agree they are important. Sometimes one eye is bigger than the other!

Eyes are ellipses ... And all this time I've been drawin' them as circles.

Well, I've got a bit more about eyes to mention, and then it's on to hairline and mouths.

Cute, but...I'd argue the mouth is the most important for conveying the emotion.
