Seriously though i love the golden armor scheme, subtlety has no meaning in the Imperium.

These look great, both in painting and modelling
I've never been a friend of all-shiny golden, but this shade looks fine, specially with the red cloths.

That gold is very vibrant and warm, really good job

thank you! i spent some time studying the 'Eavy Metal book figuring out how to do decent metals using real metals. Ultimately I had to mix my own undercoat using like five different paints. Then I just watered down the real thing and went in layers. It was a pain in the ass but worth it. I'll be trying something similar with my Sanguinary Guard using coppers.

Love 'em too, what did you use for the shade on the red?

Vallejo Game Colour and P3.
*I sprayed these with Army Painte Black Basecoat
1) Paint robes with P3 Sanguine Base
2) Paint robes with Scarlett Red
3) Use watered down Chaos Black to apply heavy shading to all recessed areas.
4) Layer (using the glaze technique) Scarlett Red to fade the middle and highest folds of cloth back to original colour.
5) Layer (using the glaze technique) Gory Red on the prominent folds and surfaces to brighten them a bit.
6) Highlight with Bloody Red. Try not to use too much or it looks a little... blech.

Well it certainelly looks great, since black is not the best way to shade red, green and blue is preferred. A question. what is the diference between blending and layering?

I tried a handful of different approaches within the squad. The best was NOT using a shadow wash and just starting with my base colour (a mixture of Shining Gold, Chaos Black, and Snakebite Leather) and working my way up by mixing the base with Shining Gold, straight Shining Gold, mixed SG and Brilliant Gold, and a final hightlight of Brilliant Gold.
As far as I personally am concerned i blend BY layering.

meh. it's not for everybody. i couldn't bare to simply paint them gold so i went with the active energy field thing.

I will soon try something similar with new Necron vehicles... I dread it a bit.
Oh, and I would go for BA too. Not pointy enough for Custodes, even if the colours match.

ooh that'll be cool. the trick i found is to lay down a "hard" texture, some lightning, glaze, repeat.
that's good to know. i'll pass that along to HO.

i'm so glad we agree! the Blood Sin are a Successor Chapter. however most of the Heresy-Online crowd feel they should be Adeptus Custodes.

They look fantastic - terrifying and hulking! I especially like the glowing effect on the thunder hammers!
Great work
