Oh, yeah! This looks great! ^^
The golden details make a nice contrast against the cold gray hull.

Great work here. I was just curious, what colours did you use?

Girot In reply to drxiox [2012-01-04 03:54:14 +0000 UTC]

sprayed black, then Shadow Grey (old school GW spray too!), washed with codex grey, lined with vallejo shadow wash. the goldy bitz started out Brazen Bronze the washed with shadow then highlighted with shining gold.

I visited the link you provided and boy these kits are pricey. Can you tell me roughly what scale it is ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Girot In reply to Geosammy [2011-04-16 19:28:37 +0000 UTC]

28mm, same as the other models. this baby is fully compatible with standard 40k!

Geosammy In reply to Girot [2011-04-16 19:45:19 +0000 UTC]

Okay, I'm familiar 35mm figures, from back in the day when I played D&D, but have no idea what "40k" refers to.
I'm also into 1:35 scale Armor Models.
Your "Baneblade" looks really tough.
Anyway, thanks for replying.

Oh wow! Awesome!

I came this close to buying one of the first Forge World versions when they came out back int he day.
I don't know how many updates/variants they've done since the first release, I haven't played in years.

I'm an Eldar and Sisters player, but I wanted to get that and the Thunderhawk just because they were so effin' cool.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Girot In reply to EbolaSparkleBear [2011-02-05 14:33:57 +0000 UTC]

lol. i DID pick up a Thunderhawk and wish i'd waited until Apocalypse came out. FW redid the molds for it and the newer version is so much easier to model. but if you play Apocalypse your Sisters CAN field a Baneblade. You can mix and match any Imperials to put together a force.

EbolaSparkleBear In reply to Girot [2011-02-05 20:21:24 +0000 UTC]

I don't know what Apocalypse is, is that the remake of 40K Epic?

EbolaSparkleBear In reply to Girot [2011-02-06 01:03:59 +0000 UTC]

Oh I see, they've made Epic full scale now. Very cool.

I have a few of the old Armorcast Eldar vehicles, you know, the shoe box grav tanks. I never fielded them all at once because of point caps related to troop selections.

Girot In reply to EbolaSparkleBear [2011-02-06 01:54:22 +0000 UTC]

indeed! i have a SHITLOAD of Blood Angels. i justified the existance of my collection as 'having my options open' but really i just wanted an entire battle company. now i've got almost two! eventually i'll get to field it all at one time, but i gotta finish the models first.

So, how did you do the shadows on the chasis? Down the screws, and that. Badab blac??

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Girot In reply to CarlosTelecaster [2011-02-03 21:43:14 +0000 UTC]

part of it is watered down black paint. the rest i did with a Vallejo shading wash that does pretty much the same thing.

EncryptedFox [2010-12-19 21:50:20 +0000 UTC]

how long did that take to paint?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Girot In reply to EncryptedFox [2010-12-20 00:58:18 +0000 UTC]

a few days total paint time, but i worked on it on and off over a year and a half. i actually had to paint it 3 times. first time the primer i used didn't stick to the model and i had to wash it all off in the sink with dish soap. the second time i used spray paint to try a camo scheme, but when i went to 'wash' it for the shading the wash mix i used ruined it. i just painted over it the third time and it came out great.

A Baneblade is badass
I wish I owned one of these, but I need to get my Hierodule finished first, then I need to make room.
These super-heavy tanks are great to try weathering powders upon.

Very nice work in shading the metals and the armor plating.
