Description Earlier today, someone asked me to make a tutorial on how to draw otter heads before they just decided to disappear before I actually got to finish the damn thing. Now I feel like I've wasted my time drawing and photographing every step aswell as cleaning it up in Photoshop. So, I'm uploading it so that maybe someone would be grateful of my hard work.

Feel free to copy, trace, rip, steal, etc. I really don't care.

Nice tut, but very anatomically incorrect. Try using some reference pics.

Oh neat! I now can harness your awesome artistic power, for my own self!

In any case, I've never tried to build a head starting with the eye. So, I found this tutorial to be fantastic in that it taught me something I didn't know (and I'm supposed to know everything).

<3's! I can't draw otters...x) This helps. *points to step 4* As all artists know, it NEVER takes one line to do anything. x) And I'm sure you know that. *looks at the two seperate lines and all the pencil line marks* ^o^ *wouldn't be able to do that with just one line* >>; <<;

Verynicethough! ^o^

It's a full page image which is why there are several lines to make that shape, but when I draw normally, it's one line.

shadow-lessesul In reply to glennoar [2005-11-03 16:16:13 +0000 UTC]

I can't draw something like that in one line no matter how small or big it is. XD You must be talented.

I'd say it's more along the lines of practice instead of talented.

Pun not intended.

o_o;...I still don't know how people can only do one line. I can only do one line with a ruler. oo; *uses about 5 on one line of a cube* XD *sketchy person*

ArcticLoneWolf [2005-11-02 01:53:10 +0000 UTC]

wow, this is cool. I couldn't draw that way, though- I start with the head and then draw facial features, just so I don't end up drawing everything too big. I have a tendency to do that if I'm not careful.

glennoar In reply to ArcticLoneWolf [2005-11-02 05:07:35 +0000 UTC]

*Nods* Everyone has their own methods. I find that if I start with the eyes, or the nose I tend to get everything right proportionally. Besides the fact that I love to make my eyes larger than normal.

I think it's helpful. It motivates me to draw otter heads all day. Really too!

Might do it during Biology tomorrow. That class is always boring. This oughta make it fun.

I AM a bad influence on people in school. First people skipping classes, now people drawing in class.

Shmitteh In reply to glennoar [2005-11-02 13:06:42 +0000 UTC]

There's nothing wrong with being a bad influence, if it keeps people awake. That class is a total snore fest. Nothin' like catching some Zs during a lecture.

Ah, that's cool. I always like seeing how people create their shtuff.

Man, and apparently a lot of people start with the eye, am i the onlly person that doesn't?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

glennoar In reply to lifeofgeek [2005-11-02 05:12:13 +0000 UTC]

I either start with the eye or the nose. Though years ago, I'd start with the old cross and circle method but that never seemed to work for me.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lifeofgeek In reply to glennoar [2005-11-02 05:49:41 +0000 UTC]

yeah, i start with the circle and muzzle...then ears....then kind...circles for eyes? That's just the way I learned though, I never really tried starting with anything else before, hehe.

glennoar In reply to lifeofgeek [2005-11-05 10:15:02 +0000 UTC]

That's the method my cousin taught me. But no matter how hard I tried, it just... Didn't work out.

I'm sorry the person left and you seem to be down. I think it's really awsome, and something I can use, I've needed a good head tutorial for a while, and I belive I can use this. So don't see it as a waste of time, but a use for the differant person than the one who originally asked.

Yeah, though today in class when I was drawing...I had it out useing it and people kept asking me what it was, most common animal I was asked was if it was a lion or a dog. x3
