Description This is where it all begins! A lone echidna flees from danger through the streets of Albion. Props if you recognize the kid on this page.

Creating this first page made me appreciate how I've settled into drawing comics. When I worked on my previous Sonic comic for Sea3on , it took me an entire week to draw and colour one page. Older comics took even longer. But ever since I learned how to draw digitally, I can get a page like this completed in three days on average. With practice I'm sure I can get that reduced further. Maybe some day I'll post another tutorial.....

Wow, love the art and colors. a little thing to keep in mind, that trip panle should have been placed differently, it kinda disrupts the flow of the page a bit the way it is curently.

The eyes are well placed and draw the line of action towards the next panle. the trip panle could have been placed in the middle towards where the eyes are, flip the foot and the fall ad it is pretty much the best it could be placed.

I went to a comic class for a year, and comic flow was very important so it is something I know how to work quite well. Still got a lot to learn yself tough but I hope I was of some help.

Very observant of you. It's true, I wasn't 100% comfortable with the location of the trip panel, but the surrounding content limited where it could be placed. I figured it was low enough between the adjoining panels to maintain the flow of the page, but your comment suggests otherwise. I'll try and be more careful about that in future.

good to know, but then again, I was trained by a profesional comic artist. I have been trained to look out for these things. Of course I was going to find it, because he litterally punched it into us the iportance of it, (maybe me more than the others as I had a tendency to draw in a japanese style of drawing, from right to left, instead of the way we read left to right)

(there was a joke going around the school about our teacher about him beng the natzi teacher because of how stct he was.)

Interesting to see things kick off, but I can't help but feel Albion looks different than when we last saw it in the comics

That's an interesting remark. There are indeed some slight differences between the architecture here and what is featured in the comics. Albion's buildings are typically drawn with the same conical or curved shape, all featuring identical rows of windows. They're so indistinct and don't indicate a particular area or function. While I did keep some of the original design elements, the urban layout is a bit more elaborate to make it look like a real city and not just a homogeneous conglomeration of matching buildings.

Did you, perhaps, reference the earlier works that showed Albion before the destruction, particularly the Chaos Knuckles Arc? its been awhile since I looked at those, but the buildings don't look "Albiony" from what little I can remember.

I don't think Chaos Knuckles ever visited Albion. I really only used Sonic #243 for background reference, as well as a Final Fantasy-ish French comic. I'll talk more about that later.

That's where he became Chaos Knuckles. Where Finitevus tried to syphon his powers, things exploded, and Knuckles came out green.

Hmm, well done. The scene in question had no significant background. In fact, Penders hilariously replaced background drawings with blurry photos in Sonic #93. However, the issues leading up to that did feature Knuckles and a few Freedom Fighters visiting Albion. The most picturesque vista I found is in Sonic #89. Maybe I'll keep that in mind for future reference....

I guess we'll never know his secret identity since Archie edited his name to read 'young man'. Or maybe that is his real name. Fingers crossed for Young Man!

"Bimmy Jr.", eh? As in Bimmy and Jimmy from Double Dragon III ? Thanks for digging up a lost fact, TSI.

Maybe you can post a tutorial on how to line and color things quickly. Seriously, one of my major problems is that my artwork takes too long.

The fact that not even that many pages in and your series already looks good/way better then ASO tickles my insides.

Nice page here. Good panel layout and some rich details going on here as well as some very murky colours to compliment the tone. ^^

And I do indeed recognize that kid, he's the kid from the first part of Endangered Species who says, "There's a giant egg in the sky!"

A cookie for you, squire! I thought it would be a good idea to make this nameless boy the hero of the comic.
