Why yes, this was inspired by That One “Black Mirror” Episode (my family ‘n’ I have finally been watching the show on Netflix, and while I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of the show on the whole, I did think that was a pretty great episode); once I realized how well the song connected with Ruby, Sapphire, and Garnet (who you’ll recall has often talked about how Earth is important to her because it is the one place she can exist as herself), I just had to do something with it. I had initially only wanted to have Ruby and Sapphire having a happy Swing Dance together (not their usual style, I know, but I liked the chance to tackle Swing’s particular physicality), but then I remembered this old Inktober 2017 piece of mine: erictmason.tumblr.com/post/165… and realized I wanted to give it a happier counterpoint.
