Description
I realized that I never did put together a full documentation of my creation of Vantage Point, even though I had all of the images. Since it has been brought into question a few times in the past if I am the actual creator of this piece, this is to assure you that yes, I AM. This is a bit of a show-and-tell, a bit of a tutorial, and a bit of a territorial pissing. I created this piece, and this shows it step-by-step. I did not copy this from -anything- or -anyone-, this is purely from my own brain and creativity. Coming up with your own creation is what truly being artist is all about.Sorry about the hugeness, but I wanted everyone to be able to see it all well enough.

anyone who thinks that Goldie stole her own artwork is just ignorant and obviously hasn't been on the internet that long. She's brought such beauty and inspiration to so many people in the world, anyone who steals her artwork is scum.

Would you mind sharing the author of the book? I've been hoarding watercolor books but I would love to see this book and searches are so far, proving futile on the great interwebs.

Im so sorry to hear that you have had a large amount of stealing and BS lately, Goldie you don't deserve that! It seems to come with the position of top tier popularity though D: I can recognise your work in an instant though and this step by step was very educational for me :3

Love your work, and I can't believe some biggot would have the audacity to say you copied this off anyone or any thing. Blasfamy I say!
Not sure if you'll have time to answering a question like this, but in regard to the air brushing. Would you mind sharing the brand of paint, and equipment you use and maybe a book or tutorial or something that may help a beginner? I'm interested in trying this method but i'm not sure where to start. Any info your could provide would be amazing!

How long did the piece take? I'm asking more of a start to finish, as the one thing that makes me get frustrated with each acrylic attempt is the fact that things dry so fast, I feel obligated to set aside one or two whole days and just get it done instead of wasting paint.

I started it on December 1st and worked on it only a few hours out of each day, finishing on Dec 9th. Not because I couldn't keep going, but I get bored easily and always end up walking away from the painting to distract myself. There were a couple of days in there I didn't work on it at all. All in all, if you put the time that I actually sat and worked on it in one continual lump, I'd say it took less than 24 hours to complete. Yeah, painting with acrylic does go fast if you just hunker down and git'r done. Sadly I don't have the patience to do that, and usually something that would take me a few hours to finish ends up taking a few days. I blame that on being an Aries and thus have a hard time seeing the process through.

So...I've read that you want to be careful with liquid frisket and get it back off within 2 days or else it can damage the paper. Not true with your experience then? That's generally the biggest time-driver, aside from the desire to not let unused paint dry. I think I'd paint more often if I didn't handle it like a marathon!

I've never seen a copy of this with your signature on it, but I've always recognised it as your work.
There is so many subtle nuances in your style, so I just knew it was yours.
This upload gives permanance to that belief.

oh, oh, random thought... since i see a few folks are now commenting "I've seen this on a shirt here or there" and wondering if it's legit or not, you should maybe list the companies/products/whatever that you DID give permission to. Then if folks don't see where they spotted it on the list, they know to report it to you (and thereby NOT sending you a bunch of messages about legit stuff.)
Just a thought ^^

Did you used to have a process for this uploaded before? for some reason I thought.. but maybe it was for a different picture. I know you've done a few other fun tutorials/walkthroughs before. :}
Anyways... being accused of stealing my own work really caught me off guard, when it happened. um....WHAT?
You make acrylics look easy, lady. ^^

I can't believe anybody would ever dare to accuse you of stealing any piece you've done. You are an amazing artist and this piece clearly fits the style of every piece you've done. Your work is very unique and very recognizable.

I hope you understand that this is one of the first pieces I can remember seeing of yours; right next to your white tiger hunter with the spirit in the trees, a decade ago, you've done so much to inspire me. I do hope that one day I'll find the effort to switch to traditional works. Thanks so much for showing the public, and me, how involved you are with your art. This piece alone shows something more then just the paint, canvas, and a few colors; you've shown your dedication despite any objections to your work. I hope I have a chance to meet you during one of your trips to Denver!

That looks difficult, but then again, we all have our own style~
It always pisses me off when I see a copy of someone's original work and claim it as their own, then they get defensive about it claiming that the owner of the original copied them.

Vantage Points has always been one of my most favorite pieces of art ever. From the over all sense of calm to the smallest details in the fur, it just draws me in. Even seeing this process I am -still- blown away and almost can't believe it isn't a digital piece. And to learn that this was one of your first "true stabs" at acrylics...wow.

Beautiful work. It's thrilling to see a piece from beginning to end. You've got a few good ideas about keeping things neat and using certain techniques. Thanks for showing us!
