"Jazzal!" she called, as tears dripped from her eyes to the ground far below, "I... I'm sorry...."

Then an explosion shredded the sky.

The blast caught Jazzal and threw him backwards, slamming back into the ground from which he had took off from. The cloud of fire and light spread through the air as the rumble of the blast, so severe that it set off car alarms a good distance away, slowly died away, thundering into the distance. Nobody moved. Nobody spoke. They just stood there and stared at the impossible as it unfolded.
