Description Just a simple walkthrough, I added parts that I saved. I do really paint the same way traditionally as I do digitally. xD theres not much diffrence actually.Only traditonally i have to make the colors myself, and water out the paint like if I were using opacity pressure in photoshop haha. Im used to painting on one layer anyway so it doesnt matter if I dont have layers traditionally xD

I use cheap acrylics which you buy in huge tubes, saves money xD. I dont like the small ones they stink and die fast. I think i used 3 brushes on this piece, one big, one medium and one small for details. big one being flat, and two being round.

Ignore typos if they are there xD

8D hope it helps somehow

Is the material where you painted masonite? If so, do you need to prepare it in some way?

Did you painted this on masonite?

xD omg nooooo it doesnt even look like wood. Its rock, or a slate to be excact. Masonite is not this shiny or reflective

oh, ok. That explains why it was so reflective .-. I thought that it was some kind of preparation

Ekstremt nyttig! Takk for tutorialen! : D

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

griffsnuff In reply to Grusart [2013-05-24 17:44:56 +0000 UTC]

Grusart In reply to griffsnuff [2013-05-24 19:17:21 +0000 UTC]

should you let it dry before adding details?

Acrylic paint dries very fast so xD but yes I would wait. unless you want to blend it into the background colors.

Amazing process! The colors are delicious and the movement of the owl about to land is insanely well rendered. Acrylic doesn't blend as nicely as oils (IMO), but you totally rocked them paints.

Great tutorial. I haven't painted very much, but you bring up a great point with pre-planning the color scheme. What a great tip! I have always wondered how artists are able to insert differing colors, and that would make sense.

nuisances [2012-12-04 03:20:02 +0000 UTC]

Do you seal these after you paint them? Or are you not worried about the paint coming off?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

griffsnuff In reply to nuisances [2012-12-04 10:53:53 +0000 UTC]

xD acryl is a tough paint, it can handle most things unless you paint it on plastic.

I once painted it on leather, and I was afraid it would be ruined, but mom uses that leather jacket when shes around on her biker meetings in rain and wind and its still just as nice.

So Im not afraid that it will come of, and you do not need to seal it with anything.

I'll bet. The only downfall (least for me) would be that the pieces history wouldn't be showing. But I have to really respect your style. It's very beautiful ^^
