Yaay somebodys addressing this point ugh I saw a point adoptable and it looked almost exactly the same they even decided they're going to pinch my fursonas scald DX I'm just sooooo angry but I can't bring my self to tell them coz everybody els just ends up screaming at me and fighting and I really don't want to come across as a jerk plz tell me you have a tutorial for that oh and btw THIS IS AWSOME SAUCE!!!!!

The problem that is very common with situations like this is that thoose markings are common in some canines, having a dark color and a lighter color on the belly.
And red usually works best with orange or a lighter yellowish color. So theres probly many kinds of this type of coat for dogs 
So to me that isnt really the same.

I think this is also good stuff to keep in mind for character design in general. YES, characters in real shows and movies can be inspired directly by other sources (see "expy" on TVTropes) and it's legit. The thing to keep in mind though is you're not making a "fan character" (ie, another Sonic recolor), you're taking elements of what you like and making informed decisions about how to put things together in a new way.

Being original is hard indeed. But there are cases where it can slide....like the poses or if you needed to improve on drawing a certain body part or to have clothes ideas....But yea, It does show disrespect to the creator by ripping the whole concept apart.
I have made my own wolf-sona (before I named her and made her a complete anthro) Not even two days after I showed mine, someone else drew the same thing with minor changes, like the moon being over her eye instead of -over- her eye (lid), blue eyes, and the white stomach, mine stopped before the neck, but hers kept on going to the snout....When I confronted her about it...she yelled at me, and said that I was the one who stole the idea....oy oy oy....

I love your tutorials. They're so helpful in a sweet sort of way. thanks for the advice...just what some people need. I actually didn't follow this advice when I first started drawing and uploading characters, but now, my new INSANELY AWESOME character, jeffery, is original, and he has a unique coat. Jeffery the fennec fox, with a pet rolly polly....thanks for helping my chaotic brain

It's good advice and I'll definitely keep it in mind. But sometimes someone can have an idea and make an OC and have no idea that it's similar to someone elses P: I guess it can be strange that way.
