This was really awesome thank you! This might be a dumb question, but what if your light source is purple? can you shade in yellow or orange?

Yes that is possible :3 just make it a darker tone than the light and it should work just fine.

Super helpful
I think now when I pick my colors I'll use the wheel of colors instead of the box of them ^^

I love all the color theory and balance talk you've been doing in your tuts--maybe make one focusing on balance, and another one on color theory, or shmush em' together?

A lot of help for my shading, just one question If the light is for example the moon does that mean it casts a blue light and an orange shading
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
griffsnuff In reply to Marleepup [2010-08-10 05:43:15 +0000 UTC]
Moon doesnt have blue light coming off it, remember the moon is reflected by the sun and has a more white shading. The best way to look up colors of shading if you are unsure is looking at photos ^^ and during night its very dark, so i always use darkblue shading most of the part.

This is really helpfull, specially to color contrast part! Thanks for the adivice!! I really like your use of colors! c:
Oh and also, after you have your flat colors, instead of selecting it to color markings and such, you can also use the 'lock transparent pixels' tool, that little box over the layers, I do it like that, sometimes the selection makes the surounding kinda pixelated! cX
