Could you explain more about how you refined (going from picture 5 to 6), is it just a matter of adding in darker lines or? It just seems like there was such a drastic change going from 5 to 6 Β

Also, love your work! Extremely inspiring!

This is very helpful, I think a lot of folks out there tend to be afraid to use references in spite of famous paintings of the past as well as Disney films having a lot of references constantly present. It's interesting to hear about folks going on research trips and the like and I certainly wish I took more photos and did more BGs like this myself, as BGs, unless they're nature, are very difficult for me to do.Β

Still ;3 should take the oppertunity at some point, there's a reason why there's a camera on my phone after all XD

Man this is just fantastic Tina. And really a no brainer!
I have got to give this a try myself. But first I really need to bring my camera with me more often!

Are you using SAI or Photoshop? And any suggestions on brushes for those sloppy first steps? Looks like a spread and noise brush but not sure.
Keep up the great inspirations and ideas! (And the laundry machine turned into a skull background was just great. HAH)

I use both and any brush that has uneaven edges like the crayon in sai or many of the already made ones in photoshop work. Can always do it with soft or round brushes to for a sligtly different feel to it ^^

I don't think I have a crayon brush, haha. I'll have to go track down some more brushes from SAI. I recently bought some excellent brushes for PS, but it's really difficult for me to get a brush setting in PS to be as crisp and as nice as SAI. I need to use someone else's settings some day. XD REALLY hard to get used to drawing in PS woe is me. Pfftt.

there should be a crayon brush when you get sai first time, or you can just play around witht he brush settings and make a new one

You know what I recall that actually! I guess I must have deleted it accidentally when adding my own. x'D
Wait-- make a new texture on SAI with the settings? By golly how does one do that? O:

try to play around with the settings xD Idont remember, but there are tons of different settings that you can drag and pull and click to create weird things

what!? you use paint tool sai!?
i thought no one used that software because it would put virus's in your computer.
but your computer is probably is stronger then mine .3.Β

um,, paint tool sai is the most used art program. If it puts virus's on your computer, it's the place where you downloaded it, not the actual program.

I'd love to have the tools you used here too (fingers crossed that it's for Sai)

griffsnuff In reply to Fellefan [2016-05-01 14:41:44 +0000 UTC]

working with colors is a try and fail Β until you get it right kind of thing. Its hard to explain the process since its mostly autopilot at work when I do it. I also often choose colors that doesnt match, but then I change it until it does look right xD if that makes sense
