Description
EDIT: I've been debating with myself since I posted this thing whether or not to submit it to the InfinitOCT gallery. After all, I've been submitting rather a lot of not-quite necessary pictures, of my own OC.~~~~~
Just a quick painting, as I recently realized that I hadn't even touched a drawing implement in the past two days. I apparently can't make a smooth line to save my life today, however... So I decided to have him just finishing teleporting, and I will say that's why he's so shaky around the edges.
So we have our (technically, I haven't posted the other) second image of Linast's most common form. (As in, what he likes to be when he's not stuck as a human. [link] [link] ) Basically, forming this body serves two - maybe three - purposes. One - carry around his orb, which is the physical manifestation of the spells which gave him consciousness and give him the ability to have a solid presence. Two - allow him to socialize and otherwise interact with his environment, rather than sit there as a formless consciousness. And three - make people take him seriously. For some reason it can be slightly hard for people to accept that yes, every single little bit of darkness within his realm is on e singular person. So in overview, it narrows his focus down to one place and lets him protect his life source.
I'm not sure whether drawing him digitally would be easier or harder. On the one hand, I could fuss about the edges of each line as much as I want, and I wouldn't have to worry about accidentally lifting color when I want to add it. On the other, I don't even want to think about how many multiply layers it would take.
He is not creating different shades - he is creating different opacities. If I were that ambitious, any background would show through most in the 'lighter' patches.
Specs for this shape:
Height: Usually about 4 1/2 to 5 feet tall. The orb has a limited size changing ability, from the 1 1/2 inch diameter seen as a human to a little under a foot.
Design: Darker lines, 'bones' if you will, are almost always present along each limb. The highest concentration of darkness is always around the orb, in order to have enough substance to support it. Actual pattens vary according to his whim and any expressions he wishes to convey.

Is shift like an entity or an alien? I'd like to know.
By the way your drawing is great! Thumbs up!

Thanks!
Well, his name is actually Linast - his main reference sheet for the OCT can be found here: [link]
As for what he is... He is the result of a magical experiment by a polydimensional being named Clemcy. Clemcy may or may not have originally been an alien, no one knows at this point... You should be able to find Clemcy's ref sheet somewhere in here, too, if you're curious.

Will you add some sort of back round or keep it this way?

I don't really know. I'm tempted, but with watercolors it's almost impossible for me to go back and put things 'under' his translucent body - it would end up as one big, muddled blur. :-/

Why not add accessories? Like, beside him? (:
