Description This drawing started with me being rather uninspired, but with the desire to draw.  So I started with some exercises that I've recently read about, having to do with things like line weight and consistency of curve.  These were strewn across the page.

These started to look like fight patterns, but as much as I love Rainbow Dash, I wasn't really in the mood to draw her again.  After all, I really should vary my subjects just a little, right?  So who better to draw then her once-rival, Lightning Dust?  I've been thinking about drawing her for a while, anyway.  It was mainly a test of the mane and tail, so even though I knew the eyes and wing weren't great, I didn't bother fixing them.  The mane and tail actually looked REALLY terrible without being two-tone, so I gave the darker bits flat some flat shading.  I think it ended up not half bad.

Finally, I wanted to do a really quick test of what it would look like if I combined inked line art with graphite shading, so I did a little random shiny spike.  I like it.  I might give that technique a shot on ponies sometime.
