Is...is this a job for human rights activists or for PETA?Okay, this is something that has bothered me for years, and in all sorts of medium.
So I'm furnishing my little Animal Crossing cottage, right? But I don't know if I'm comfortable with keeping a caged canary (which is a furniture item) in the window when my next-door neighbor is a talking, four-foot-tall robin.
It's the same thing in what was one of my favorite childrens's show, Arthur , too. He's got a little pet dog, but one of his best friends is also a dog. And it happens again with Goofy and Pluto of the Disney universe; both are dogs, but they live in different castes of domestic hierarchy. What is this?
And when you encounter this sort of thing at such a young age, it's...I don't know, it's just crippling.

Hm...ya know, I noticed that once before, too. How's Goofy gonna have a dog?! I think this is an attempt to water down the effects of slavery. Yes, I do.

Yeah, I remember quickly disposing of my hamster in the original game after realizing how my neighbors would react upon knowing that I get my entertainment from watching a caged rodent run perpetually on a little wheel. Brilliant work, it's good to know that I'm not the only person whose mind this thought has run through!

Oh, that makes so much sense. My sister had a pet hamster cage thingy with a hamster inside in AC, but I guess it's a good thing there aren't any hamsters in AC, otherwise...*looks nervously towards...some direction* I guess people are just strange and have weird minds.

I also forgot to mention that what also ticked me off was the fact that some animals could talk while others couldn't. Such as the mice in sleeping beauty could talk but no other animals could.

That always pissed me off too. It didn't make any sense to me and I found it rather biased.
If anything, humans should have been the pets if nothing else. XD

I've thought the same things for all of those things. The canary, Pluto, and with Pal, Arthur's dog. It's always bothered me too! But you only just reminded me. lol! XD

Heard an explanation once of the Goofy and Pluto thing, which alot of cartoons seem to borrow. Goofy wears clothes. Pluto doesn't. Thats why Goofy can talk.

Goofy is a wolf but what ever and you know this same thing bothered me for a wile and a number of thing like are there female gorns in Zelda. I just say live with it.

I always wondered all this... But Disney do have a sort of escuse... i think Goofy was made before Pluto, but then they wanted a "pet" for Mickey, a dog. Who didnt wish a pet? And there it goes... I think it was that way...

As someone who read and understood Narnia and similar universes, I agree: Pluto and Goofy always confused me as a kid, for the fact that Pluto seemed to be the ONLY ONE. There were no other animals as pets. Except if you count the warped cartoon specials where Figaro from Pinocchio is Minnie's cat. Or is that where Figaro originated from?

There was a huge paper written about the Goofy and Pluto thing about 8 years ago....it was quite disturbing. The guy ended up relating it to Freudian tendencies and unfortunately in the end sounded like a madman raving. I was amused at first...but the raving scared me in the end.

I've thought about that too.... It's even weirder in Cow and Chicken where the kids (who suitably enough is a cow and a chicken....their parents are human) and they eat pig-meat.....Logic gets thrown out the window when it comes to games and cartoons so it seems

haha... its so true... its like in pokemon, where you use all these miltanks and stuff, and then when you watch the show everyones eating some random assumed to be cow! i mean seriously.... its pretty twisted.
