Just a quick draft of what Movie Optimus could have looked like.When, you know, it was up to people who appreciate the source material more than Hollywood bobos.
Didn't add shading, reflections nor textures btw. Just a very basic, 2D version. This is just a quick 2-3 hour draft, from which I deduced that the chairs might be better positioned underneath the arm if you'd go with this concept.
Sorry about the legs not being there, but they're not essential to get some idea of what say a Geewunner would like to see, opposed to the movie design as is.
Oh well, maybe if some other people start making Tranformers movies...

I have no idea why but I love the idea of his seats becoming arm guards instead of just sitting in his chest like the original toy.

Paint Shop Pro XI. >.>
Could have been done with other art programs as well though. For example Photoshop, Painter or even Gimp. Just not MS Paint.

They are painful to my eyes!

Seems I am a helpless Geewuner because I just love this type of designs. Though my beef with the live movie designs is not based on being too un-Geewoun but rather that I am not into that type of design at all. Don't feel bad about the legs not being finished. It gives it a special tough. HELL! Even the paper color makes it look like an old pirate treaure map, which makes it look kinda cool on my optic receptors. ^^

Well it was on white paper at first, but I made the background yellow to make the image come alive a bit.
White backgrounds often feel too sterile. Somehow this gives some sort of authenticity/life I guess.

Sexy. 'Course, I said that about Classics Ops, too, and I know not your opinion of THAT.
I've decided to reserve all judgement on the live action movie until seeing it, but I actually like their designs-- when looking at them as just robot designs, instead of keeping the characters I love in mind. (When I first saw the Bumblebee face, I couldn't even put it into context of being a FACE-- people kept saying there was a face in that picture, and I couldn't figure out where. 
This, though-- this is Optimus. And a sexy one, like I said. I like the joint detail.
