They moved over into the kitchen, where Adie started pulling out some dishes and materials for them to get started. They were going to have 6 more people arriving who were all coming in from out of town to visit so they had to make something for everyone. "This is such a spacious kitchen Adie, I love it!" remarked Lynne. "Thank you! It was always my dream to have enough space for the food I go through," Adie replied.
"And we both know how you can go through food," Lynne taunted with a smirk, "I'm amazed you're still as skinny as you are! You know I ended up putting on about 40lbs while we were rooming together, and that's just the weight that stuck. I'm pretty sure after some of those meals I must've been close to 300lbs!" Adie, being the mildly competitive person she is, didn't miss a beat in pointing out that she had (in fact) put on weight as well, replying, "Well excuse me Ms. 'You're So Skinny', but you may recall that I was quite a bit more petite myself in those days. When we met I couldn't have been a pound over 120 and now I'm regularly weighing in around 180."
Lynne knew this was her "jokingly-upset" tone, and replied with a smile, "Remember when we almost cleared out that buffet after our media production class?" Adie dropped the fake attitude and almost started drooling, "Yeaaah, we could barely get out of the booth, let alone into the car." She paused for a minute before continuing, "Are we sure this is going to be enough food for everyone?"
They continued going with their rather trivial meal until everything was almost ready. Right as they were pulling the last batch of cupcakes out of the oven, Lynne's phone buzzed, she picked it up and upon reading the text she got, she realized that the buffet incident might be closer to repeating itself than she could have imagined.
