Description This is a step-by-step guide to making a base texture layer for water. It helps if you already have water made and want to add some fluid detail to it. Because by itself, it will still look artificial without ripples/splashes and distortion of objects inside it.

This Example - is a finished image of mine where this guide was used to good effect. There's a lot to consider when blending this guide into your own work.

Give credit if this helped you, thanks.

Wow! Very detailed! I'll have to upgrade to the newer Photoshop version and figure out how I'll use an ocean scene in one of my pieces! xD

I am not planning any water-related deviations in the near future, but I want to favorite this just in case.

Thanks for making this!

I don't think it's that great by itself. start putting reflections in it and then it begins to look good. It also looks much better with LCD screens.. unfortunately I don't have one >_<.
Thankyou anyway!

I agree with you.
Do you have a way to put reflections into this kind of water? ^^

Hi There!
You have just earned yourself an O.D.D.(oibyrd's daily devs) feature ! congrats!
ODDS (oibyrd's daily deviations) are to honor the sometimes overlooked artists of dA that I personally think deserve some exposure and also, to introduce the more popular artists to the new/overlooked deviants. I prefer to showcase ALL artwork that I love (and that includes popular artists with a fair amount of traffic to their work) in order to create a non-biased feature of the talent on dA. *PLZ DO KEEP IN MIND - some of the features are quite popular and obviously don't need extra help - however - I enjoy posting them because they inspire other artists. Please click the link below to see your work featured and to view other featured artists . If you prefer not to be a featured artist, just send me a note and I will remove you from the list. Cheers! Sandi xoxo

^_^ why thankyou heaps for the feature! I don't think it's by best work at all, but hopefully people find it useful. What you do is totally awesome! I would do the same thing if I had more money.

ohhh~ this is a good tutorial!

Naturally, you'll always need to improve the pciture. I can only imagine a filter in which a finished picture is the product O.o
