Description A few people have asked how I add sunbeams, or bring out the atmosphere in some of my photos, so using my latest submission [link] I made a tutorial of my work flow.

The same general idea is what I use to make more pronounced sun beams, just tweaking the levels of transparency and contrast in the beams makes the difference.

oooooo now my speed paints will be speeder!
I have always been told to stay well away from that gradient style and you've just shown them all who's boss. May need to put a before and after shot next to each other though, its difficult to see the subtle effect. Anyway thanks.

glad you noticed.....nobody else seemed to. Anyway i'll send you a note in a year when i create a new account. My course tends to take up 100+ hours a weeks so i go for years without painting because of it and it tends to annoy me whenever i look at my previous work as its not improving. So as long as you don't delete me from your watch list you'll see the work again once i've finished architecture and can devote my spare time to painting rather than trying to claw back the hours i should of been sleeping.

Having said that i'll still bug you for stuff and watch

here are three speed paintings and a piece i was working on before the work started piling up again.

That is very cool!
Thanks for sharing the methodology.
I suppose the same technique could apply to environmental illustration as well...
