Description
Hi @ all.I did this a few times already, a terraformed Mars. But this is the my most recent one. One with which I'm really satisfied. And since I created it using public data and maps, I make it also public available.
This is Stock. It's free to use in every form you like. The only little thing I'm asking for is: Please link to this post and give me credit.
Beware, the file is 18mb heavy. Inside the downloaded archive you'll find a 4000x4000 .png and 4000x4000 .jpg.
Have fun!

impressive you kept the real texture present but i am not too keen about the shadow of the planet it needs a bit of blurring

I would bet my life on it that Mars once looked almost exactly like that, millions of years ago! Except, maybe it was a little more rust-red...

Amazon isn't available in this country, i'm afraid. Also, there is no good heightfield of venus out there, most use a lowres heightfield and make some changes to it.

Whoops, i meant venus, also i wasn't referring to acctualy terraforming, i meant if you could make venus the same way you did this? Also, i'm thinking o buying those books, but i can't find them anywhere!

Well, should be possible. Just had to look for high res elevation maps and stuff. For Mars thats not a problem, lots of maps out there, for Venus I don't know. Might be a good project for the future.
Its a damn shame, have you tried Amazon? I found them there in a matter of minutes. Well, on the German [link] Amazon at least. Those books are really worth every penny you've to pay for them.

Well, you could... with lots and lots of time and the necessary resources. I would recommend the "Red, Green and Blue Mars" series by Kim Stanley Robinson. It's a story about terraforming and colonizing Mars with a good scientific background and lots of interesting characters. A good read for a Sci-Fi fan.

This is sexy. I think the terrain needs to be lightened up a bit, seem too dark

this is an amazing rendition. it saddens me so much that even if humanity gains the knowhow to terraform mars for habitation, i won't live long enough to see it. i wish so badly i could go there even for just a day before i die

Hi there!
This is one of your best yet! I have all ways wonder what Mars would look like if terra formed which leads me to a question. Would you ever be willing to a picture of what Olympus Mons would look like if it erupted in the modern area? What I mean is if it were photographed from one of the above orbiting satellites in a major eruption as if Mars was waking up and not as dead as thought?
Just an off the wall idea, Thanks if you do consider it <;->

Valles Marineris must have been breath taking in the times it was filled with water. I truly wish I could just glimpse it back than. But it left the most beautiful scar on the planet's surface I ever seen.

I wish I could go there. See it for real. Valles Marineris rules, forget the Grand Canyon.
