Description
Hi @ all.I did this a few times already, a terraformed Mars. But this is the my most recent one. One with which I'm really satisfied. And since I created it using public data and maps, I make it also public available.
This is Stock. It's free to use in every form you like. The only little thing I'm asking for is: Please link to this post and give me credit.
Beware, the file is 18mb heavy. Inside the downloaded archive you'll find a 4000x4000 .png and 4000x4000 .jpg.
Have fun!

Superlate comment!
I was blown away by this, you clearly put in a _lot_ of effort, and the result is amazing. The coastlines especially are really good. Rather than a simple boundary between land and sea, it actually looks like shallow water complete with river deltas.
All in all one of the best renditions of a terraformed Mars I've seen yet, and I don't say that lightly.

That is brilliant, and suitably realistic to boot. Good job!

Nicely done! Beautiful! Although just add water eh? Don't forget to add more internal heating so there would be a magnetic field to protect the atmosphere from escaping. Also by adding water, all that carbon dioxide would turn split into methane and oxygen XD! This way Mars would be warm...but anyways nice job!

Thanks! Just add water? Yeah, you're right about that being not enough. But for the title the pun was just too good.

Pretty pricey trip. First the time travel to 3010, than the jump to Mars and the hilarious taxes on that will eat you out of house and home.

Go on then, be my guest. Everybody is entitled to choose his/her own way of ruin. You have to visit me at my house on the edge of Valles Marineris. Nice view there.

Is that so? I also heard that the Solis Planum is quite vivid this time of year.

And you can always make the trip to the volcanoes. They are quite amazing.

Depends on which scientist you believe. They are not sure about how much water there is on Mars. I simply took some height maps from the net and based my water on that. And in this view, you actually see the side of the planet with less water. On the other side is more.

That's amazing - Have you heard there is actually been plant growth and forests as well as rain/snow on Mars. Might not need to terraform afterall A blue atmosphere as well (blue skies)

Well, I could render one without the atmosphere (if that's what you mean by the whitened burn). Note me what you need and I'll see what I can do.

Mars has always been a source of frustration for me. If only it were more massive, it would have had the gravity to hold onto it's early "earth-like" atmosphere, and Mars would probably be teaming with life right now. But because of it's smaller size (Mars is actually not much bigger than our moon) Mars has lost most of it's atmosphere to space. So sad. And your work here makes my dream about what Mars could be come to life, thank you.

Yeah, if only...
I suppose you read the trilogy about mars terraforming and colonizing by Kim Stanley Robinson? Red, Green and Blue Mars. If not, go get a copy and do so. A real pageturner with lot's of good ideas and (well...) realism. It's believable and well thought through. It sure was an inspiration for this render.

Your texture's really awesome. It looks such realistic.
Another thing I admire are the clouds. I don't like these dense clouds map, that covers entire beautifully texture. I have been looking for something like that, simple, rare odd ones clouds placed on the different areas of planet. Are they done completely by yourself or did you downloaded a clouds map somewhere from the web (and maybe edited it)?
