Description
Well... there is something strange in the title? Perhaps this is because it is one of my first attempts to shoot with my brand new VDS 810 large format field camera. The technology is ancient and pretty expensive to get film for this size therefore I shoot to fomaspeed photography paper (as negative) and convert to positive it after scanning. It gives some problems that are solved in the early 20s, one hundred years ago...So, as the EXIF was non-existent in film cameras (or papers) here are some techie notes:
Camera: VDS 810 foldable field camera by VDS Camera Manufactory
Lens: Schneider-Kreuznach APO Symmar-S MC 240 f/5.6 with Copal 3 shutter
Material: fomaspeed RC 311 matt paper cut to 8×10", used as negative
Developed in Tetenal chemicals
Scanned with a cheapo Canon LIDE 220 scanner
Cleaned up in... er... no, it isn't.
Paid download incules the 2976×2376 px scanned size positive version without my watermark.
Note you can order your own, brand new, personalized field camera from VDS if you want to go into large format thing.

You're right, but no way. I have a severe liver problem from the chemicals I used as a press man, and I must keep away from the goos the wet plate collodion needs. The camera and the 8×10" plate holder I have are suitable for wet plate, though.

That´s a pity...
I am very interested in this kind of photography and about 5 years ago I visited a german photographer in Giessen making a wetplate portrait of my son!

There are quite a few wet plate photographer. I follow some and they do amazing things. There is even a daugerrotypist as I heard and it is said that his works have amazing details and tonal richness that no film or glass plate could cover. Unfortunately I saw only a few small web image of his works.
I followed the blog of an Australian gentleman who shot wet plates but he very quickly reverted to his Canon EOS 5DRs and then I unfollowed him. He had extreme difficulties to get chemicals, plates, etc. I understand his point of quitting but he bounced from one extreme to the other I think. As I have to build up my lab from the start and cannot cover the costs at once, I now shoot to paper negative and directpositive paper and scan negatives for further development. As soon as I set up the minimum equipment, I'll step up for film.
Perhaps I will do one of the archaic processes that less poison-heavy, but that is not even a goal but a possibility.
