Description Well, it's not an MN-23, it's not a C-26a, but it sure as hell has Seburo written all over the design. I'm not happy with the shade of grey I used as a base, I wanted something more like Nerfenstein's Rayven but whatever. There's a lot that can be done with this gun and I did like 4 of the things I wanted to, I can't get everything I want on one gun!

I don't take commissions over DeviantArt, but if you'd like me to make you something, you can answer a few questions and fill out a commission request form on my website here:

Looks really good! How did you get the Barricade barrel extension to fit the Rayven's muzzle?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Hypercats In reply to Tigadee [2013-04-12 20:57:53 +0000 UTC]

It's from a Spectre, and it just locks in place like the other barrel accessories. [link]

No kidding! With the stock design and the bullpup layout especially.
I was thinking of attaching the spectre's silencer (like yours) and getting a District 9-esque paint job of orange and white with black in a few places. (I have to adhere to color scheme guidelines for my campus's humans vs. zombies game.)

District 9 paintjobs are pretty fun, good luck! What city are you playing HvZ in? We have it here at the University but I haven't had much time to check it out yet.

Hypercats In reply to 13th-Gear [2012-03-14 18:27:15 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! It's Testors inkjet decals. I traced the lettering on a photo of the original MN-23 kit, and printed my vector art out to scale for the Nerf gun. Microsol and Microset really help with getting those decals to lay down and stay down!

This really came out great Chris! The gun really came out great and the decals look pimp!

Hypercats In reply to JohnsonArmsProps [2012-02-20 17:58:49 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! It's full of mistakes though, I used a coat of Bulldog and then put down a full coat of Rustoleum gloss grey and then other paints on top of that. Somehow the multiple layers didn't mesh well and the paint wrinkled pretty bad in a few places when I put the clear coat layer on. Strange. Also, it still peeled off with the masking tape in a few places. What's the best way to get paint to stick? Basecoat of plastic primer? Soap and water washing for prep?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JohnsonArmsProps In reply to Hypercats [2012-02-21 00:05:20 +0000 UTC]

That's a bummer! Honestly its tough to know exactly how the paint will react, but in general if the paint underneather has some tooth to it, the paint above should grab hold. As for the orange peel, I dunno man, sorry!

Hypercats In reply to JohnsonArmsProps [2012-02-21 07:30:06 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I don't know what went wrong, and it's more of a series of cracking wrinkles than orange peel. Fucking orange peel is another one of my peeves though.

Looks hot but!

You should still do it! I would like to see it in a Rustoleum Antiqued Bronze, Metallic Charcoal, and Semi Gloss Black. Since black decals still show up on the Antiqued Bronze (the AA battery door), it'll look closer to the other Seburo color schemes and still show off the decal lettering. If I get a chance to make one of these for myself, that's the paints I'm going to go with. I just wasn't sure how well black decals would show up on blacker paints with this one so I went with a lighter grey. That, and I kind of wanted a paint scheme closer to Dominion Tank Police Seburos than GITS or Poseidon Kit Seburos.

I think you did a great job and in some strange twist this is the second time I've been Deviant Art gazumped in two days. I've got a Seburo shout out on my list of things to do Great job all over, I love the pink looking stripes... so cool and totally different to the colors people would generally go for. The weathering too is great.. heck the whole thing is awesome.

Oh and thanks for the mention, I love the shade you chose.

Hypercats In reply to GirlyGamerAU [2012-02-09 05:57:05 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I liked how the grey and purple looked together but I mainly chose it because it's a complimentary color to the green nerf darts and and green/orange colors on the firefly tech clip. I haven't seen the gun with the clip yet, but I'm going to guess that all the colors work together.

GirlyGamerAU In reply to Hypercats [2012-02-09 22:29:47 +0000 UTC]

Your decal work (I assume?) is so neat! Are they waterslide or something else? Given you usually need a white bg for those I assume they're something else?

Did you not paint the clip to match?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Hypercats In reply to GirlyGamerAU [2012-02-10 19:08:31 +0000 UTC]

Yep, just plain old Testors clear decals. I'm starting to get the hang of them, and I can't stress enough how much Micro Set and Micro Sol help to pull the decal down.

I didn't paint the clip because it's already a nice dark grey, but I did drybrush some silver weathering on it which makes it look more realistic. The house that this gun is going to has a ton of guns and clips and we usually just grab whatever for ammo, so having one custom clip and 5 orange ones isn't really practical. The gun is for when Saturday nights turn into this: [link]

I'll have to look into that Micro stuff, never even heard of it before so thanks for the tip, I usually just clear coat.

I'm working on a Rayven at the moment, I'm hoping the connection I've made it's too weird

Can't wait to see it! I'm doing a Mass Effect Raider CS-35 for the wife next. I just printed out decals. The Raider is part of the Gear Up series now, and it's already a nice orange and black with grey stripes, it just needs a little bit of metallic paints and decals.

GirlyGamerAU In reply to Hypercats [2012-02-12 00:41:35 +0000 UTC]

How awesome you're doing it for your wife! Is she a ME fan then? I can't wait for ME3, not long to go

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Hypercats In reply to GirlyGamerAU [2012-02-12 01:26:06 +0000 UTC]

No, she hasn't played any Mass Effect, she's more into Skyrim and Fallout. I got her the Raider because at the last Nerf house battle, she had my Recon and a Scout, and she didn't like how the Recon cocked on the top. I figure a Mass Effect paintjob is perfect for this gun because it's already got the stripe, and has a nice orange/black plastic combo. The Mass Effect color schemes are usually 2 colors + black, a stripe, some lettering, and a lot of weathering, like this: [link] The Gear Up Raider's already got a color, black, the stripes, and plenty of areas for me to add decals.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GirlyGamerAU In reply to Hypercats [2012-02-12 03:02:20 +0000 UTC]

That is a really nice ME scheme, I usually go the gray route for ME, though I did do one that was white with blue striping. I have no doubt yours will be awesome when it's finished.

I really need to get back into Skyrim... started it and went back to Assassin's Creed and kind of forgot about it.. well that and I never seem to have any time for gaming anymore hehe.

Skyrim's fun but all I really do is craft and kill, I could care less about the main story. Wandering the countryside, crafting awesome stuff, and trolling bandits is more fun than joining a side in some politically motivated civil war.
