Description here's one of my designs for Wolverine &the X-men. this is my concept of Angel. as you can see, my philosophy was to stick real close with the classic costume design..and add a twist. this one i stuck to very close, because it was one of may fav designs of all time.

again, i've got really that the supervising director, Chuck Patton, and Marvel exec , Craig Kyle, were real supportive of what i wanted to do.

i believe Neal Adams was the guy who came up with the original concept of this costume design.

I was really excited when I saw Angel in full (classic) costume in the Wolverine and the X-Men series and cried to see what happened to him in "Guardian Angel" episode, which is one of my favourite episodes of the series. I have to say I prefer the shorter, clean-cut hair they used in the series, but after he rebelled against his father and rejoined the team, if he stayed on longer, I can see this hairstyle come along later and enjoyed it immensely. As for the piece itself, amazing! Although, I've always wondered why Angel/Archangel always wore large heels in the series.

i like the shorter hair, too....but i just tried to do something a little different. especially since i used the original costume verbatim

I loved that you kept with the Kirby red-and-white, verbatim. I'm so used to the blue-and-white, but then against that's post-Sinister, of course.

Also, I want to thank you for giving Archangel magenta heels. I don't know what it is, but I loved that he has magenta heels and, somehow, remains a badass! That's just TALENT, my friend!

actually Kirby had nothing to do with this costume you see....that honor goes to another legend, Neal Adams. and originally even though it looks like the costume is dark blue ( the way i will always think it is) it's actually meant to be black and white.....the black having blue highlights.
the move to red and white, i don't know who's responsible for....i would think it's either Cockrum or Byrne.

as far as those magenta heels go....i can't take credit for that either. Walt Simonson, another legend, designed the original Archangel in X-Factor, and i just ripped off that color scheme and costume.

the only thing i'm responsible for in this design is the way he's drawn.....that's all me

Actually, Archangel in X-Factor, although it's been awhile since I've read them, always had flat feet. It never appeared as though he had boots on, instead it seemed to be just giant body tights over his feet to his head. Sure, he had the magenta toe-tips, but never had heels, per se. Then again I noticed, in the animated series, that Warren isn't that much taller than his father as his normal self, only a few inches more, but when he was Archangel, he completely shadowed over his father. I assume it's the heels, which were taller than all the other males, to make him appear more intimidating, which works! I adored that he finally got to use his metal wings to slice things up! You didn't see that in the 90s series!

Ah I really like it! Angel was always one of my favorites, besides Kurt and Gambit He looks really cool here...hair is a little funny, mainly just because it looks longer than what I am used to seeing it. I love his wings! Those are so difficult to draw! If you could ever possibly make a tutorial, do you think that you could make an anatomy or figure one, of how to draw males and females or additional things like fingers, toes, expressions or wing? You totally don't have to but if you're ever free or bored, that would be really helpful

you know you had to mention the one main character i didn't do that season!

i believe i had Khary Randolf do that one. i don't even remember what that design looked like...but i'm sure it looked great, that Khary is one talented guy.

She's my favorite after Rogue and Iceman! she looked like this [link]

Did TPTB especifically told you guys to design uniforms that resemble their X-Men' most iconic costumes? I can't wait for Season 2!

thanks for showing that...i've never seen that before.

TPTB had nothing to do with that direction, that was my decision. i was a HUGE X-men fan, so when i got a chance to try out for the job....that was the direction i took.

i wanted to stick to whatever era i found iconic with that particular character...and put a cool twist to it.

the first three designs i did were Wolverine, Colossus and Cyclops. Avi Arad and Craig Kyle loved what i did. i was lucky. Craig Kyle was very supportive of everything i wanted to do and the direction i wanted to go.

so we've all got to thank him.

i'll have more of my concepts up soon. come back and check them out.
