"Shadowpact"

It is a common concept in this day and age that magic is very real...and very dangerous. Its one of the most powerful forces in the known universe. A few months ago, magic at its more pure-evil almost led to the end of all existance.

Jean Loring, ex-wife of the Atom, bonded with the Black Crystal of Galid, transforming her into the former Angel of Vengence, Eclipso. Immediatly, Eclipso attacked The Spectre during the 'Crisis', whispering into his ear and forcing him to begin turning on all beings in the galaxy who have magic running through their veins. The Spectre's onslaught only came to an end with the sacrifice of The Wizard Shazam.

Due to the Spectre's attacks, the world of magic was rocked. Beings like the Enchantress fell into a coma, Deadman slipped back into the world of the living, and Doctor Fate ended up losing his life in a failed mission to stop the Spectre. Following these attacks, a small group of magical beings decided to stand together to protect eachother, as well as adventuring around the world to find the purest forms of magic as the Shadowpact.

During their first mission, the team (consisting of Ragman, Blue Devil, Deadman, Nightshade, and Detective Chimp) located the Helmet of Fate deep inside Tibet. Each member of the team tried to bond witht he helmet, but it wouldn't except them. Instead, the helmet ended up bonding with June Moon, the Enchantress. Breaking her out of her coma, June acepted the role as the new Doctor Fate and joined Shadowpact, but also offered a disturbing look at the future...
