I hope everyone has a lovely top hat very soon! Make some tophats my pretties!
It's finally finished.
I hope you enjoy it, if anything is unclear, please feel free to leave a comment, I will try to elaborate. I'm prettysure everything is clear, but I made the hat, so it might not be clear to everyone.
Here's mine! oh, and this more recent one too...
*The reason I have not put what the seam allowance values, is simply because the fabric has to fit snugly against the cardboard base. I don't want to put a set amount, and have wrinkly hats out there. Thicker fabrics will fit differently than thing ones. So, if you make the hat, sew it to make it as snug as possible to the base, and then cut off the surplus, leaving approximately 1/4" seam allowance.

Hmm... It is not likely that I will do this, for two reasons:
1. I have a bad habit of thinking things are cool and wanting to do them and never getting around to doing them, and
2. I'm not sure I can adequately modify the measurements such that the end result will actually fit on my head.

Just measure your noggin, that will be the circumference for the inner circle of your brim. Then extend your brim outwards a couple inches. The circumference will also be the length of your cardboard rectangle for the crown of the tophat. It's not too hard to modify.
And if you really really really wanted a tophat, you'd make one.

It depends, really. (on sewing skills, materials used, perfectionism... etc)
I couldn't accurately say how long it took me to do mine.
