<<< Part Two >>>*Edit: ZOMG! *dies*
Thank you for the Daily Deviation `znow-white !!! What an honor to be featured!
I hope everyone has a lovely top hat very soon! Make some tophats my pretties!
It's finally finished.
I hope you enjoy it, if anything is unclear, please feel free to leave a comment, I will try to elaborate. I'm prettysure everything is clear, but I made the hat, so it might not be clear to everyone.
Here's mine! oh, and this more recent one too...
*The reason I have not put what the seam allowance values, is simply because the fabric has to fit snugly against the cardboard base. I don't want to put a set amount, and have wrinkly hats out there. Thicker fabrics will fit differently than thing ones. So, if you make the hat, sew it to make it as snug as possible to the base, and then cut off the surplus, leaving approximately 1/4" seam allowance.
**If you use this tutorial to make your own hat, please have the courtesy of putting a link back to my tutorial, and leave a comment here with a link to your deviation so that I can see your masterpiece!!

like just a regular one? I toss out industrial strength cardboard at my work place all the time and though that'd be a fantastic use for it. We get regular boxes the ones that ship the cigarette cartons in, I may have to try this. thanks so much.

yep! Just like a regular cardboard box. If you want to bend it "properly", I suggest you start at one end, rolling it so that the lines of the corrugated cardboard go in the sense of the length of your tube... (_)====) <- does that make sense? lol

Everything is better with a top hat.
I love this, and am definitely trying it out. I almost bought a real silk top hat for $200, but decided it probably wasn't worth that much, so for now I'll see what I can do on my own. And this way, you can add a lot of fun accessories, too!

A $200 top hat is nice, but it's not worth it if you're afraid to wear it because you don't want to ruin it. And making your own is so much fun!!
Have fun with it!

I like this! I'm going to try it tonight..
Do you think it would still work alright if i used craft glue instead of a hot glue gun because i don't have one
Great tutorial!!

Idzit In reply to Bittersweet12 [2008-11-11 14:16:58 +0000 UTC]
Glad you like it!
I think it could work, but I'll be honest, it won't work very well. You will have to clamp pieces together overnight to dry if you want it to be solid. You could also glue + staple the pieces, that would work.
You should definitely invest in a hot glue gun. They're not particularly expensive, and you can get them in any big department store. They ALWAYS come in handy.

I'll decorate it and get a pic up soon ^^
Thank you!

I get confused easily when people start brewing in my house, then ask if I want some. This is a daily occurance.
I'm going to, when I get more fabric.
