Description Epic scorpion hull is epic. This is the direction EVE is going for the future, ladies and gentlemen. I personally have been able too test this hull class, and I can tell you it is far different than any of the other ships. The devs have claimed that all ships are going into the new art style that the T3 ships are in. This means new megathron, new abaddon, everything, even the minmatar ships get an upgrade, becoming even more epic piles of junk. I also have gotten rumours, however unsubstantiated, that the devs are finally going too finish the T2 ships spectrum, making new T2 battlecruisers and battleships. Think T2 abaddon and T2 harbringer. As well as a completed faction line.

OK, so were all really hyped, yes? Good, now for the big one. You know that "Walk in stations" expansion CCP has been talking about? It's coming, and soon. Incarna will be coming out later this year, or earlier next year, and it will be the setup for the new game, DUST 514 to interact with EVE in new and exciting ways. By the end of next year, the face of EVE will be completly different. I've even heard rumours of atmospheric flight, making for an aircraft like piloting feel, and DUST will bring about FPS gamers that would have never even gone close too EVE, making EVE quite possibly the largest game of all time. Not only that, but Tyrannis, CCP's next expansion seems too be setting up the stages for DUST, with us, the pod pilots, being able too place facilities on a planet in different areas according too the location of minerals. Soon the planets will be as important as the systems.

Shit gonna happen, just be ready for it.

Widow-class advanced battleship, beautiful! I am trained and able to command one of these majestic shadowy starships but for a long while couldn't afford one or justify the cost. Also, didn't quite need one for a time. However, things are starting to swing it's way; part of a militia, new corp and new objectives that are starting to open way for it's necessity. Finally I can justify the cost and proudly soar through outer space shrouded from the sight of my enemies.

I don't play anymore, but have been watching the DevBlogs closely, hoping a few things will be integrated into the game. Also hoping for Black Ops advanced battleships too get buffed, to be brought into line with the current range.

Mind you, there might be other options before that time comes. The next expansion is seeing the re-balancing and re-purposing of every ship, cruiser down. Oh, and have you seen the sick new stabber/vagabond skin?

so am I, but the rattlesnake works pretty well. Recently though, that unless you have a covert jump portal on there, it's kind of worthless.

I'd wait till incarna, it'll be out soon, this year most likley. Either that, or reactivate, and then just train skills, that always works too, and do nothing else untill you choose so. It's what I've been doing for a while now. If you get bored, just train skills and do something else, or get a hulk and mine some as well, that could make you some money. I've heard with good skills you can make over 100 mil an hour doing nothing but mining. Boring as hell, but it works.

So, that's your ship, eh? Interesting. I take it that all variations of the SCORPION are E.W. capable?

Insane-Randomness In reply to Adurnak [2010-03-11 23:07:14 +0000 UTC]

Most of them, but not all of them. The scorpion base model is supposed too be hyperadvanced for it's size and power, and it is, considering I've held off three ships at once before with one. The widow is ten times better, and looks twenty times cooler, [plus it has a lot of extra capabilities. Like being able too jump a whole fleet from one system too the next without a jump gate, and do so without being seen.

Adurnak In reply to Insane-Randomness [2010-03-12 01:33:06 +0000 UTC]

But doing so must generate a huge energy signature, right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Insane-Randomness In reply to Adurnak [2010-03-12 01:44:53 +0000 UTC]

No, not really. Only normal jump portals can be seen by anything other than recon ships. See what you need is a Covert Cynosaural field, which is a system wide field visible too only scout ships, or ships that are made too cloak. Then, a black ops ship, the biggest type of scout ship, creates a covert jump portal, again only detectable by scouting ships. The jump portal allows any other ships too jump too a distant system without using a stargate, which is almost like a choke point for poeple too control traffic with. Therefore, you can bypass the gates, and avoid detection. Not only that, but your fleet can end up anywhere within twenty normal gate jumps of your starting point, so even if someone does know where your going, it would be almost impossible too find you again before you jumped. So Black Ops ships are the masters of infiltration, and they don't hardly produce anything at all. They can travel entire regions without you knowing, and move faster while cloaked than while not cloaked. Therefore, it's rare too even SEE one, much less use one. The widow is probably the best out of the elite black ops ships, because of it's speciallization in electronic warfare.

Adurnak In reply to Insane-Randomness [2010-03-12 02:00:54 +0000 UTC]

Ah.
The Black Ops ships seem similar in functionality to one of my own craft, the Class-10E. It's a one-man long-range fighter equiped with state-of-the-art weapons and scanning technology, as well a a special type of cloaking field that puts it slightly out of phase this reality. The only problem is that, like the rest of the ships in the TGM fleet, it uses a GateDrive to jump. While this allows it to go anywhere in the Multiverse, it also emits the energy equivalent of a 50-megaton bomb exploding.

Insane-Randomness In reply to Adurnak [2010-03-12 02:57:48 +0000 UTC]

Indeed, it does sound simialar, but a Black Ops is a very large ship, normally about as tall as the Eiffel tower, and crewed by at least a thousand people. The ships in EVE are indeed massive in scale. Even the weapons are huge. Take for instance, one weapon is a 1400 millimeter howitzer. In case you didn't know, thats got a shell about the size of a bus. And thats not even the largest gun they have. For instance, dreadnaughts, which are massive siege engines, can use 3500 millimeter howitzers. Thats a shell the size of a 747 jumbo jet, and it's shot at superluminous velocities at ranges that could span small cities.

Much larger than your average one man scout fighter, although those exist as well.

That's impressive. And I thought the six-mile long Titan-Class cruisers were big.

Insane-Randomness In reply to Adurnak [2010-03-14 14:56:08 +0000 UTC]

well, this is no where near the biggest ship. The titan class is the biggest ship. Among those, I think the leviathan is the longest. It is over 17km long.

I wonder how many Monolith-Class warships it would take to nutralize one of those?

MONOLITH-CLASS DATA;
POWER SOURCE: FIVE M.k.XXIV FISSION GENERATORS
SHIELDING: ARMAGEDDON TEMPORAL FIELDS
WEAPONS: SEVENTY-ONE TURRETS, EACH WITH FOUR TYPE-1000D THIRD-GENERATION ENERGY CANNONS
LENGTH: 1000'
WIDTH: 400'

Insane-Randomness In reply to Adurnak [2010-03-14 16:24:13 +0000 UTC]

what power class are the energy cannons? Mega watt, or giga watt?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Adurnak In reply to Insane-Randomness [2010-03-14 16:32:36 +0000 UTC]

Terra watt.

Slightly overpowered, I know, but when you've got two fission generators connected only to the weapons, you tend to have power to spare. Occasionaly a Monolith-Class will brake formation to vent excess power through the guns.

Insane-Randomness In reply to Adurnak [2010-03-14 17:20:22 +0000 UTC]

Geezus, actually, with that kind of power, it might take one or two. The leviathan uses simply massive torpedos, but the Avatar, which is of amarrian orgin, uses big lasers, I think those might be terrawatt class weapons. But thats not it's biggest weapon. Every Titan has a Superweapon, capable of taking out small capital ships in one shot. That sucker is definably Petawatt class, though you can only fire it once every five minutes, it takes up 95% of the cap when fired, and it makes the ship completely immobile, plus it can't live system once fire for ten minutes. Basically, it renders the ship useless. That amoung other things, the giant lasers that it uses are only good against large targets, as the guns can't track small ships.

Adurnak In reply to Insane-Randomness [2010-03-14 17:59:52 +0000 UTC]

I think the TGMC GUARDIAN has Petawatt weapons. Then again, it also has fifty M.k.CXXV fission generators.
Either way, I don't want to try my luck against an Avatar. Torpedos can be intercepted, and lasers aren't very usfull on Nacaldium hulls, but I'm not sure temporal fields can withstand more than two hits from a Superweapon.

Wow! That ship looks epic! Maybe in the future, I will play E.V.E. or any of its related games. I love the seriousness of the actions. Though, the learning curve may be a bit difficult (understatement).

Insane-Randomness In reply to Delvarian [2010-03-11 19:02:45 +0000 UTC]

indeed, big understatment, but it is seriously worth it in the long run because of the sheer size of the game. But too get anywhere, you have too stay at it for at least half a year, if not more. And if your planning on long term playing, like me, then you won't be doing anything except training skills for about a month or so.

Insane-Randomness In reply to HolyCross9 [2010-03-11 17:40:06 +0000 UTC]

Not really. Total annihilation is a Real Time Strategy game, even if it is an MMO. EVE is more along the lines of an RPG, where you play a specific role, and your skills dictate how good you are. Also, EVE runs in a 3 dimensional environment.
