fantastic, very eye catching!! 
I suppose the only crit I have (I've suddenly noticed that it says 'advanced critique welcomed!) is that the character at the bottom looks like it was drawn a little arkwardly/unclearly...although I feel the amount of detail in the painting makes this unoticable unless you are really looking.

I'm digging the perspective Ant, but the kid in the distance is getting lost in the pit because of the similar colors. Maybe you could throw some rim lighting or a highlight to bring him out?

I agree he gets rather lost... but what is rim lighting? A bright line around all the edges?
I may actually be able to get this change done for once cos it's only over a small area...

Pretty much. Rim lighting is a backlight that helps outline the object around the edges. A lot of times artists use it as a crutch and the lighting doesn't make complete sense with how the picture is lit. But thats why they call it artistic license, right?

Yeah, I've heard Mario Galaxy uses rim lighting a lot also XDXD It's a good way to separate one form from another.
