fantastic, very eye catching!! Its not only the unusual angle that works, but the lovely amount of delicate detail you've put in. The colour scheme works well, and the texture is really nice ^^ Did you use gouache?
I suppose the only crit I have (I've suddenly noticed that it says 'advanced critique welcomed!) is that the character at the bottom looks like it was drawn a little arkwardly/unclearly...although I feel the amount of detail in the painting makes this unoticable unless you are really looking.

The frog? Yeah, by the time I got to it I wasn't really bothered anymore. Haahaa, oops. 9___9

I'm glad you like it. It's in acrylic paint, not goache.

Thanks!

I'm digging the perspective Ant, but the kid in the distance is getting lost in the pit because of the similar colors. Maybe you could throw some rim lighting or a highlight to bring him out?

Its cool though!

I agree he gets rather lost... but what is rim lighting? A bright line around all the edges?

I may actually be able to get this change done for once cos it's only over a small area...

Pretty much. Rim lighting is a backlight that helps outline the object around the edges. A lot of times artists use it as a crutch and the lighting doesn't make complete sense with how the picture is lit. But thats why they call it artistic license, right? Just don't over do it, you don't want a stroke around the whole figure

Yeah, I've heard Mario Galaxy uses rim lighting a lot also XDXD It's a good way to separate one form from another. It's kinda like the object is being backlit, so the edges of the object are lit brighter than the rest. Y'know how in the corner of a room it gets darker? It's kinda like the opposite of that. XD
