I decided against adding the text on here, as it would breach copyright... basically this is the first pic in a series which shows Varjak basically doin some crazy Dragon-Ball-Z style power-up (well, not quite, it's a little more tastefully done, but still, you can't help but draw lines of comparison). In this pic, everything slows down around Varjak... it's all part of his Kung-fu power-up routine still... It's in two shades of grey cos the illustrations that are already in the book use this effect... and I thought it only fair to let myself do it too!Indian ink and pooter did the flat grey colouring.

Very electrifiying, as though Varjak is the Flash. That explains things. But I do expect some high kicks and paws punchings in this one, then again, perhaps later after this page

this kinda reminds me of dave mckeans renderings a little bit. while i absolutely adore your paintings, im very much enjoying your illustrations.

The book I took the story from has illustrations by Dave McKean... I was trying not to let them influence me!

It does...
... and it was one of his better recent works, but it looked terribly dated... I heard he got lots of art students to do it all for him cos they were cheaper than professionals and it kinda shows... the plot was a little bit tiresome too, but that was Gaiman's fault, not McKeans.
It was generally quite enjoyable, I just think it could have been a lot, lot better, that's all... sorry if you really like it...

It's not my favourite either, but that just means it's not going into my portfolio! I'm not bothered to change it... as ~spoonbard will vouch, I am soo lazy with doing things like that!
