Yes, I'm well aware it's winter XP ...ΒThis one was a birthday gift for a friend. I wanted to do something colourful and I really liked this bird and have been wanting to paint it for a while
Painting is fun for me, I find working in colour relaxing. I'm still getting a hang of the medium and mixing my very limited colour palette but it's fun to see what I come up with ... mostly by accident ^^
I plan to upgrade my collection with a few more watercolour tubes and water soluble pencils because I feel like they would mix well together and give some pretty cool effects. I also need to learn the use of all of those different brushes .. cause I'm only using 2 of themΒ
Done with Winsor and Newton watercolours, ink pen on Herlitz Watercolour paper

You did a great job here! I absolutely love how you rendered the texture of the bird's feathers without getting the colors muddied up!
This one really make me want to break my own set of watercolors and pencils and start painting! I am still getting the hang of this medium myself.

This is quite a well performed piece, I loved pretty much everything about this piece but the colors (the tone palette as well as the appropiate combination with these ones and the lightning and shading) are the most appealing to me, if you wouldnβt mind I would like to give my comment focusing mainly on this subject.
First the arrange of colors you picked are quite something, with the exception of the bird, the red and green being the the raw ones on the work certainly give the plants and flowers a vibrant and lively tone which in my opinion was the best course of action you could have made, the blue jay has an astonishingly vivid appearance, like it could come out of the painting at some point, the enormous amount of detail you gave it makes my heart skip a beat, so beautifully made, and by saving the clear, lighter tones to the background it makes my eye to focus on what really matters (in this case, the branch with flowers and the blue jay)
You also draw really well, I love the strokes you put, by combining al of this things makes a really awesome piece.
Now, on a tiny note, I do have something that is making me wonder a bit, not really a critique but rather an observation, it says that is made with watercolors but it looks a bit opaque, for a second I thought it was acrylic or digital media, now it was just a doubt I had since it could be just your way of painting.
In any way, I liked it very much, You just gained yourself a like <3

It is indeed watercolours but I use a lot of pigment and little water to make stronger more opaque colours, also it helps me control the watercolours better that way ^^

I was first very attracted by all the colors, your painting pops out! It's nice to see some lineless drawing, it allows you to play freely with your paint. The bird is actually really cute! The one thing that bother me a tiny bit is that there are way more lineart on the flowers than on the bird, which make a contrast of something heavier on the side. Despite this, it still feels like a spring time, peaceful and colorful with plenty of flowers, which is really enjoyable!
