I wrote a huge block of text. But deviantart wasn't letting me post it. So. Was drawing. Had this open so I can make the eyes. Long story short. I was doing the fur on the character perfectly. I saved before I did something to the fur. This something to the fur wasn't too good. Therefore I decided to load the file. I forgot to make it a sai file last time I saved. It was a png file, had no layers, or anything. I was working hard on it. I couldn't fix it at all. R.i.p reference picture for species I was making. R.i.p the species I was making. if you're using paint tool sai, the vector layer icon is to the right of the normal layer icon
