A fan is someone who enjoys a fandom. Fans often make art of the series they like, they talk about it, they sometimes write fiction of it... they share it with others and try to promote the series as best they can.A fan-tard is someone who OBSESSES over a fandom. Fan-tards try to shove their fandom down your throat. They obsess over the fandom until normal fans lose interest, just to get away from the repetitive droning of the fan-tards.

I agree. I'm a HUGE fan of The Office, The Producers, and Phantom of the Opera, but I don't shove it down people's throats. I like to discuss them, but usually with fellow fans I find on this site.
Fantards can hurt a fandom too. I used to sorta like the Twilight books (not the movies . . . blech) but the fantards have kept me far away from it now.

Honestly though, I agree with this stamp 100%. I feel that way with Anime in general. When I first started to like anime, I was unaware of how crazy some people go over it. When I realized this fact, frankly, I was frightened. Fantards who claim to be "otakus" (without actually understanding the true nature of the word), dress up as japanese school girls, talk about their fav anime 24/7, go cosplay on the streets for no apparent reason (when it's not at a convention), do all these...yaoi and yuri fanfics and obsess over non-existant fictional characters (like call them "sexy bishies" and suchlike)...after a while, I got so tired of it all.

Ick, I hear you, people like that made me HATE naruto and basicly most of the other anime shows. It was OK for a wile, but thair was this one obsessive BITCH at my school who wouldent SHUT THE F*** UP about it, thus my Anime loveingness was banished to a dark place in my head so deep my mental sertch and rescue team refused to go down thair, *sigh*

And that's why I hate Naruto now. I used to love it but the fantards just messed it up. Also what drives me crazy is the people who claim a character from an anime theirs.
I try to get a nice small fandom chat going with a few people in a chat and tell them who is my favorite character the someone opens their big mouth and says: "OMG NOOOO, HAT"Insert name here" IS MINNNEE YOU CAN'T HAVE him/her"

Oh how true this is. You can allways jokingly bicker about some things with someone you KNOW, and you know the PERSONALLY and LONG ENOUGH, esp. if you're both sarcastic. But being serious with stuff like that and with every other person you see, that's just wrong. Too bad so many people don't see others have something called personal preferances/taste. Still it's allways good to show a fantard how little he knows (like in some pop quize's at anime conventions). But it's just pitifull most of the time.

Exactly! Not to mention they actually give death wishes to people who do know it sucks. I ranted about it once and one fan told me I was "a stupid and confused white kid who's going to quit the little vampire act when you're stuck in job support and child support for bastardized children."

I'm a fan of several TV shows and even animes but I cringe at the very thought that I share the same interests as people who simply talk in a "OMFGROFLOLdroooooolz...blady bla show + ULTRAHOTSEXYLOVE - BEST. SHOW. EVER...AND IT sooooo FUCKING IS, so THERE!" kind of way and like you said, are giving those certain fandoms a bad name. That kind of speech, again, I've seen plenty of times. *roll eyes*
