Description
Hello dear deviants!I have written another tutorial for you guys and this time it's about backgrounds in my photos as requested by some of you.
I have to admit I've been writing this tutorial for about a month now and I re-wrote it three times because I wasn't satisfied with it!
I hope you guys will like it, and what's most important: that you'll find it useful!
Feel free to post links of your photos if this tutorial helped you

You don't need to unfocus, that was just an example to show you what the background looks like. You actually need to focus, it's done automatically by your camera, or manually if you have that ability.

thanks, a really helpful tutorial! (:
i'd like to know, how do you use "selective color" tool in photoshop? (what version do you have? maybe mine is just outdated...)

ivadesign In reply to rosesakura921 [2010-10-24 21:28:33 +0000 UTC]
I have photoshop cs3. You go to image>adjustments>selective color and just slide the sliders as you see fit.

thanks! i think the closest photoshop elements gets to selective color is "color variations," correct me if i'm wrong.
would you happen to know if it's possible to upgrade photoshop elements to photoshop cs? or even just photoshop elements 5.0 to something higher?

A very useful tutorial indeed! One question, how do you unfocus the background w/o the subject jus like you did with the pink flower background.

Ahh thank you for this tutorial I have been looking for a background tutorial for some time now. Just one question, within the blurred background there are circles are they done by editing or just made naturaly when taking the photo?
