Description
Macro of a snowflake in Yellowstone.EDIT: Guys this is being stolen all over the internet. I can't even express how upset I am right this second. So voila, big-ass watermark and tiny view. Chances are it's coming down eventually, but it's late and I have work in the morning.

I have a question...
I've never seen snow in real life because I live in a country where it doesn't snow and I don't travel too much.
But I've always thought that a snowflake is something microscopic, impossible to see by a human eye. Are macro lenses that powerful or snowflakes are not as microscopic as I thought?

Well, usually they're pretty darn small. I think maybe this particular snowfall was much bigger than what's average, and that's how I was able to get such a detailed shot. But I couldn't tell you for sure.

Snow flakes aren't microscopic. Sometimes they can be as big as the cotton parts of ear swabs (these things- [link] )
I live in the United States, in an area that snows for the majority of the year. It can be pretty intense!
