Description
The third in my series of Xenogears paintings features the enigmatic, ever knowledgeable Citan Uzuki in conversation with the progenitor of humanity, Emperor Cain.20"x30" oil on board
I decided not to include Citan's gear in the image because I just don't think it was that important to his character's story; Gears just seem to be mere tools to him. But it's always during his strange conversations with the Emperor that we'd get quick glimpses into his true character, so I wanted to do my interpretation of those moments. Hope you guys enjoy!

That sounds cool. I'd definitely play a remake if there was one. Though I don't think the people at Square-Enix quite have what it takes to do justice to it anymore. Especially since they're so busy making sequels to games that shouldn't have sequels.

I agree with you here. I think if they did remake Xenogears now it wouldn't have nearly the same feeling as the original. The characters would all probably look like generic airbrushed models.

Even if they did manage to keep the visual feel of it intact (which is unlikely), there's no way they wouldn't destroy it with voice acting. Not that all voice acted games are bad. But I do miss the good ol' days of text boxes with character portraits.

I think that videogame voice acting has come a long way, but Xenogears has some pretty heavy dialogue and the slightest campiness in the vocals would ruin the delivery.
I miss the days of text-only games too, though replaying my old PSX games on a modern sized TV is seriously painful on the eyes for more than a few hours

Oh dear god no it seems ever since Squaresoft joined enix it has been a down hill spiral :/ such a sad way the epic story genre has gone downhill in years as of late.

These moments in the games were definitely the most enigmatic during the first half of the game. That first time on the sand cruiser confused the shit out of me, but I made sure to keep Citan in my party at all times as a result. Keep your friends close, enemies closer, right? Good thing Citan ended up being a boss.

Yeah for sure. I could never tell if those scenes were supposed to be flashbacks or if Citan had some way of communicating with Cain in real time or something. Not to mention that every time they spoke, they'd just throw out some brand new vocabulary words that didn't make any sense until later on haha. Thanks for commenting!
