Description
The third in my series of Xenogears paintings features the enigmatic, ever knowledgeable Citan Uzuki in conversation with the progenitor of humanity, Emperor Cain.20"x30" oil on board
I decided not to include Citan's gear in the image because I just don't think it was that important to his character's story; Gears just seem to be mere tools to him. But it's always during his strange conversations with the Emperor that we'd get quick glimpses into his true character, so I wanted to do my interpretation of those moments. Hope you guys enjoy!

This is one of those lines that the first time you read it, you're like, ".....Citan, what the hell are you talking about? Is this some sort of poorly transliterated Japanese culture thing?". Then later come to find out just how literally he was speaking haha.

I love this line from the game. Early on too, thing is it made me feel all fuzzy and warm inside too. I loved the song. Also I agree that there are a lot of lines that may be translated poorly.

And Citan Β such an awesome character ( i can't probably explain his character with words, he has such awesome combination of kindhess and dark nature ), i finished Xenogears almost recently. I should've played it a long time ago. It's a true masterpiece.Β

Yeah, such a deep and EMOTIONAL game. A pity i didn't have PlayStation as a child. Playing Xenogears was omega awesome experience. ( and sorry for late replay )

I replayed it last a couple years ago (well, actually when I was doing these paintings ha). Didn't make it all the way through though. I'm excited for Xenoblade X to come out on the Wii U here in the US, but am wondering if I'll even have the time to enjoy it with it being such a massive open world game. Hoping the story didn't get sacrificed just for the sake of trying to compete with the likes of Skyrim and The Witcher 3.

Eh, i didn't even played Xenosaga, though i managed to find money for PlayStation 2. But i eventually will do this. Now i know that this series MUST be played. Creators are geniuses. ( yeah, i also think story is one of the strongest points in Xenogears )

I did play through Xenosaga I & II (and watched through III on Youtube haha). Also amazing games. I watched Xenoblade on Youtube and didn't really get into it as much. It had a lot of interesting ideas, but I think I just prefer more of the sci-fi feel of the others to its more fantasy setting. Just didn't really feel like it fit in stylistically with the others, but that's okay. Can't really expect creators to want to make the same thing over and over and over again can we?

Sure, one of the said part of absolute masterpieces is that they exist in one and only number. Lol, i thought you played other Xeno games, ( sorry for my guess ). Can i ask a question? What are your other top RPG/ other games? ( Β i always searching for games with deep meaning and i usually asking about top personal games , that's how i stumble on awesome masterpieces )Β

Hmmm that's a good question. As far as classic JRPGs go, I'd say Xenogears/Xenosaga, Final Fantasy VII, and IX, and Vagrant Story are my all-time favorites. Other amazing games are Shadow of the Colossus, and more recently The Witcher series of games. I haven't played much that's too far out of the mainstream, so you've probably heard of or played most of those already. But if not, they're well worth a shot.

Well, thank you, yes, i heard about most of them, except for Vagrant Story. But thanks for telling me about them. Now i'm know i must hold them in mind for sure.

Yeah Vagrant Story is a great game. Unfortunately, it was a pretty overlooked title for the PSX. But if you can get past the difficulties of the combat system, it's got a really intriguing story.

btw, i finished playing Xenosaga somewhen nearly 2 years ago, but just remembered about this conversation XD. Overall it was it was epic story, but when i heard that it should have been 6 episodes instead of 3, i was like: "CMON guys, not another game being cut." But it had great idea, if i understood the idea of Xenosaga right though. (lol)

Haha nice! Yeah, I only played the first two Xenosagas, but watched the 3rd on Youtube. It is a bummer that they chopped the whole thing down to 3 episodes, but what they did was still pretty excellent. As with Xenogears though, I don't think I really understood it until I read through some of the supplementary materials that were published for the series. Having charts and diagrams to explain things like the Upper and Lower Domains and the Gnosis and all the other really esoteric stuff definitely helps haha.

Yeah Perfect Works is amazing and it's really fascinating the depths they went to flesh out the world of Xenogears. I'll have to get back to you on what the supplementary book for Xenosaga is, but I know the Wikia site for the series references it a lot, and that site might actually be what I've been thinking of this whole time lol.

I absolutely love this. I feel like you've illustrated Citans personality quite well. The air of secrecy, the contemplative gesture, his hand resting on his sword, ever ready to cut down who he must to accomplish his task. He was certainly a well developed character, and this is an amazing portrait of him.

OMG I can't believe there are four prints left of Citan (three now because I just got one, SWEET!) I will cherish this forever, I will be buried with my original copy of Xenogears. I know you said NEVER, but I didn't know about the Fei painting! Is there absolutely no way to get my hands on one? I can't wait to frame this...

Just got it today, thanks! Honestly, if I had to choose (instead of getting chosen for me) I'd pick Citan. He may not be the main character, but the most interesting and complex by far. Again, supremely pleased with this, great work!

The plot always got a little too thick for me to understand during scenes like these in the game haha. At least the first time I played it.

The same thing for me. The game came out when i was 11 years old, and as a child i couldnt really grasp the story except that the gears were awesome and the characters are so cool especially, Grahf and Id. I would be willing to buy an ID or Grahf print from you.
