Description To view this tutorial it needs to be downloaded.

This tutorial is designed to compliment my Blood Brush Pack and takes you through creating a blood effect step by step. The tutorial will work equally well with other blood brushes and custom shapes if the correct texture is applied.

The tutorial is designed primarily for those relatively new to PS though more advanced users may find it helpful.

Again crediting is not required (though it’s always nice to see how the tutorial came in useful and any links to work done using it will at the very least earn you a comment). I only ask that if you find the tutorial useful please add a (favourite), it makes all the hard work worthwhile and helps others to benefit from the resource.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it seems that this only works on a white background. I tried putting some blood on the floor from another picture, and when I did the color balence, It make the whole picture kinda red, as well as the curves affecting the background layer as well.

Put the blood in a new layer, and select only the layer you're working on when you're playing with stuff.

You can always use the burn and dodge tools to bring out highlights where you want them. Also use the brightness/contrast tool. I encountered the same problem. It's easy once you practice a little.

wow, cool, very realistic! but there is 1 thing wrong:
by step 4 there is written that you must select levels. but that must be curves, because when i selected levels i got a another window then shown in the tutorial...

P.S. sorry for the bad english i'm dutch.

photoshoptutors [2006-01-05 22:29:01 +0000 UTC]

nice steps.

i figure it is well layed out, only for the tutors purpouse i'd rather have tutorials
that explain the tools and give examples rather than tutorials that show
a process without explaining any of the tools.

anyways, the changing a brush to a bloody colors seems like a nice choice for
explaining the curves and the color balance tools, tho since the concept
is basic, there's room to explain a bit into layer blending modes or something
to make the work more intuitive than a "follow up"

... i'm such a nag eh, tut work is hard.. lately i've been more editing other
people's tuts than making my own... don't have the time or the energy.

keep up the hard tut work, i'm sure many people found this one
a great tut.

cheers
jaako
