Description
Okay, so since I'm not sure about selling my emotes, I thought I'd at least make the pattern(s) available. This PDF has the patterns for 8 of the emotes I've done so far:
For the two I haven't included, I can't remember the patterns of the facial parts (that's what I get for not writing them down right away
More emoticon crochet patterns:
EDIT:
Whoops, noticed a little mistake in my wording for the assembly of
Nothing too wild, the old patterns work just as well.
EDIT 2:
You guys are crazy, you know that? Another DD?
Happy to know they're so well received, though. Hope you enjoy.
And many, many thanks.
The Emoticon Project: [link]
Patterns free to use. Have fun.
(If you've made emote plushies using my patterns, I'd love to see them and if you upload photos, please credit me and link to this deviation. Thanks.)
No selling - either of the pattern or of the finished emotes!
I don't do it, you don't do it.

well, I stuff all my plushies with polyester fiberfill. that results in very light plushies, even if they're tightly stuffed. in case of the emotes, that would mean you can't exactly use them as hackey sacks (as some people said they'd want to use them for that). for that you'd need the heavier plastic pellets like, for example, the beanie babies have them.
but if you just want to use them for squeezing, rolling them around and such (), the polyester filling should work just fine.

oh, but knowing the basics should be enough to at least get the base done. you could start with one of the easier emotes, like .
everything you'd need to know should be mentioned in the pattern.
thank you so much for the praise, the fav and the llama - and of course you deserve one back.

umm, where is the actual pattern for the plushies? because i'd really like to crochet some of these....and perhaps make some other random ones......like what size hook did you use and how many rows is it......the standard stuff....oh, and how to you get the expressions and such on....like the lines....because i have yet to learn that in my crocheting ability. congrats on the DD too. it makes me soo happy that crochet/knit gets DD's too. ^^

thank you so much.
for the actual pattern, you have to click on the download button next to the image. you'll get a several pages long PDF document that way.
in the PDF, there's the pattern for the base and all the different body parts, with instructions how to put them together and which colors to use.
I haven't included the hook size, since that depends on how thick the yarn is you use.
usually, I work with yarn that's 125m long per 50g. this kind of yarn is the easiest to get here in germany. for that I use a 3.0mm hook. it results in rather small plushies. I've noticed that in the USA, thicker yarn is much more common, so any sizes I might give might not be what you get in the end...

your welcome ^^
ok thanks! so basically for the plushies, the hook size is just so the stuffing doesn't spill out or show right?

janey-in-a-bottle In reply to LucarioFan1996 [2010-09-14 19:25:14 +0000 UTC]
in a way... if the yarn is too thin for the hook size you use, there will be holes and it won't look pretty. the other way around, if the yarn is too thick for the hook size you use, you won't be able to get a good grip on the yarn with the hook and won't be able to pull the yarn through the loops with said hook.
normally, if you buy yarn, they have recommendations for suitable hook sizes printed on the ball bands. if you keep with those recommendations, you should be fine.
